i saw it yesterday
here is my review :) ... first of all, i thought that this film was amazing! most definetely one of the best of the year P. T. Anderson takes us on a journey with this film where we actually get a chance to see Adam Sandler act dramatically and where we are dumbfounded by the intensity of each scene. Sandler plays Barry, a man who obviously has some sort of mental illness due to his rough upbringing. you are able to watch the impact of this through his relationships with the other players in the story: his sisters, his love-interest Lena, his co-workers and even a phone sex operator. the many thin storylines twist together and are displayed for us in a matter similar to what Barry is most likely himself seeing. i love how Anderson brings familiar faces from his past work to this film. Philip Seymour Hoffman plays a phone-sex line ringleader with a vengence and Luis Guzmán plays one of Barry's coworkers who supports him through all of his odd adventures. i really love this film and i will certainly be seeing it again once it is released on dvd. |

way to drag up an old thread but...
i just rented this on saturday and I LOVED IT!!! the cinematography is amazing...there are many really great shots in this movie. adam sandler really impressed me...he brings about this painful awkwardness about his character. watching the movie was almost stressful and made me really tense, and yeah...if you haven't seen it already, it's a definite must-rent! |
