kid nation
has anyone seen this show? it's about an old ghost town in no-where's-ville USA called Bonanza. they filled it with little kids (the oldest is 15) and give them all responsibilities. Basically, the kids run the town and govern themselves. I find it extremely interesting. Kind of like.. lord of the flies but with survivor like games. as well, kids don't get booted out of bonanza like in most reality shows

i don't agree. i find this really interesting because ... well... kids have the essence of human nature minus the reprocussions of a 20 year old life. It's interesting to see how the kids govern themselves based upon what they learned before the show.
Ok. you got a point when you say "what kind of parents..." but i hope these parent's aren't simply pawning off their children to a reality television show to replace a baby sitter. And it's not like this show has me sitting at the edge of my seat. It's just interesting. |

If anyone thinks this show is like lord of the flies... they're wrong.
If anyone believe the kids are actually "governing" and "running" the town... they're wrong. The producers obviously hand picked good kids with very high teamwork/leadership skills to begin with. Therefore things like fighting, killing, and take over are hard to come by. I started baby sitting and working in day camps at the age of 12-15, so it dose'nt surprise me how well the older kids take care of the younger ones. All this talk about if this show is right or wrong is just publicity to get more hype. I watch the show mainly because I work with kids and find their social dynamics quite interesting and cute. Otherwise I dont see the kids put in a harmful situations. If anything its like going away to camp and the kids are aloud to go home when ever they want. They cant claim the kids are "alone" when they have a host meeting with them everyday and a camera crew following them everywhere and interviewing them.
