My thoughts on GTAIV
Now, i've played all the GTA games.. every single one of them and quite frankly, i hated every single one.
It just got to the point where it would be disgustingly hard, no good ideas came to the table. SA gave us additional looks and some tweaking of what your character could do. Now with GTA 4, there is so much good things, the euphoria engine, cover system, actually breaking windows to steal cars, cars have more realism to them and GOD BLESS the fact that you can now drive and shoot properly (Saints Row style), i really hated the fact that you had to line up side by side with the other car in order to get shots off, some of those races were stupidly hard with that. I hope that with a new GTA 5 (it's obviously going to happen), that every time you attempt to jack a car you get sent into a mini-game of the driver seat and a button game comes up in order to steal the car but if you fail, you set off the alarm and the cops are on you extremely quick, succesful and you get away scott free with no wanted level going up. Kinda got off topic there. anyways, as a long time hater for the GTA series, i'm actually getting excited for the new one and I personally cant wait to throw the controller in anger at my new HD tv. Now, if only i had pre-ordered it, i have a feeling im going to be waiting for a few months before getting my hands on the game. and lastly, Multiplayer in previous rendetions (i think only GTA 2 had MP) was shit. I cant wait to blow you guys up.. it'll be just like living a dream. |

it's pretty neat all the cool shit in the game now
i was reading on ign. with the euphoria engine if you shoot someone say in the knee, there leg flies backwards and snapping sound comes on if you shoot them in the head, the head snaps backwards. pretty realistic. if you jump out of your car, you actually tumble realistically. It's just so realistic. Jack Thompson is going to go crazy. |

mini games are always welcomed in a game, so long as they're done properly. God of war heavenly sword not properly: everything else esp, Jericho. |

For sure, mini-games have to be tastefully added to make simple gameplay more interesting. But over repetition makes any cool mini-game not fun.
Marty, have you played the warriors? They forced the player to break into cars manually, and then manually steal the car decks by making small circles with your analog stick. it's cool the first few times around, until it turns into a chore. But games like Bioshock use mini-games like the Hack tool very effectively. You get a payoff if you succeed, a penalty if you fail. You also have Auto-hack tools if you want the payoff but if you don't want to deal with the chore of handling a puzzle. |

Yes, it did come out for PC.
GTA4 just got it's first reviews from XBox and Playstation Magazine (UK)! It scored a perfect 100% with comments such as, "The greatest testament to GTA IV's brilliance is that I haven't been able to stop thinking about it since putting the pad down." and "Utterly stunning in every respect". The very day I get the game, I'm booking the next day off. |

GTA has always gotten to a point of frustration with me, some of the cool things/challenges are hard (which is fine), but i hate going into a SUPER CRAZY MISSION and then dying near the end, which is 100 miles from the start point, and having to go back to the beginning, up my ammo/gun stash again, restart the mission, play through a bunch of it etc etc. it's like WELL YOU HAD YOUR CHANCE TO COMPLETE THIS MISSION SO GO SPEND 20 MINUTES RESTARTING IT AGAIN.

"The use of the mobile phone has been expanded to perform multiple actions. When selecting the mobile phone, a zoomed-in version of the phone pops up in the bottom right-hand corner of the screen and a list of several commands are made available to the player, such as "meet me here," etc. Retrying a failed mission can be performed by accessing the menu. The player can take photos with the mobile phone and upload them to the police computer. Niko can dial 911 to call the police for them to arrest an enemy/pedestrian that is fighting/shooting at him, or just to trick them into wasting resources on a false alarm. He can also contact the paramedics and the fire station." from wiki |

agreed 100% meat man rawb. That's probably the biggest piss off ever from previous gta games. but, i think with the new cover system implemented, that shouldnt be a problem, the stupid car race missions are a different story.. yay! |
