RE SERIES AND RE4 ARE ENTIRELY DIFFERENT GAMES
TO EQUATE THEM IS RIDICULOUS CLASSIC RE IS ABOUT SURPRISE AND CLAUSTROPHOBIA AND STATIC CAMERAS AND FOCUSES ON RESOURCE MANAGEMENT AND STEALTH AND HOLY SHIT HOLY SHIT ZOMBIE RUN RUN. RE4 IS AN ACTION/PUZZLE MIX THAT FOCUSES ON KILL EVERYTHING/THEN SOLVE PUZZLE. THE VERY FACT WERE TALKING ABOUT A COVER SYSTEM MOVES IT FAR AWAY FROM THE GAMEPLAY MECHANIC THE SERIES STARTED OUT WITH. I AGREE THE OLD MECHANIC GOT STALE AFTER A MILLION REMAKES ETC, BUT RE1 AND RE2 WERE BOTH HUGE HOLY SHIT MOMENT GAMES WHERE RE4 IS JUST A VERY GOOD SHOOTER THAT REVIVED THE SERIES l |

The first RE game I ever played, scared the living crap out of me.
Then I got RE2 on PSx, PC, and Nintendo 64. I loved that game. Tried Nemesis and tried really hard to like it, I got about half way through and quit. So I'm a fan of the series, but RE4 just gave me a boner all over again, the 3rd person over the shoulder perspective was rad. I bought a GC just for the game and then sold it, Grabbed it for PS2 unlocked that rad laser gun (many bashings of the TV for it), PC and then played it on wii. I'm a huge fan of the series. but RE5 with HD res, Xbox Live Co-op, Cover system, crazy guns and a partner that is actually useful makes for a rad expirience. |

Great atmosphere (not as much as Silent hill though), and a truly new style of game at the same time. But painfully bad controls. |

NOT WHAT IM SAYING AT ALL, IM SAYING APPLYING GAMEPLAY OF 4 TO 1 OR 2 WOULD BE BULLSHIT AND YOU SHOULD FEEL BAD FOR SAYING IT. |

Sure the first one was something new (although heavily inspired by Alone in the Dark and Clock tower), but was plagued by terrible controls and puzzles which stretched even video game logic to it's very limit. I mean who designed the police station in resident evil 2, or any of the buildings in that god forsaken city for that matter? Resident evil 4 fixed the glaring control problems (something that should have been fixed for Resident evil zero), had a better paced story (it's hard to fight the fact that Resident Evil's story while decent, had huge issues, code veronica being a great example of this). So I don't feel bad saying that the Resident evil series should have fixed the huge flaws that plagued all their games in the first ten years. |

CAN SOMEONE REMIND ME WHY RE NEEDS BETTER CONTROLS? AVERAGED OUT, YOU SHOOT SOMETHING EVERY 10 MINUTES. YOU DONT FIX RE BY MAKING IT GEARS OF WAR.
THATS LIKE SAYING TETRIS ISN'T DEEP ENOUGH, IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN A 60+ HOUR SQUARESOFT RPG. l |

Well, the same could be said for GTA
The cover system helped out wonderfully The game would've been disgustingly hard without the cover system. There's no doubt in my mind, even though a cover system will be featured, RE5 will still be rediculously hard. |

Add the poor story pacing, and illogical puzzles, and you have a game that needed to be fixed years before it was. I'm not saying make it gears of war, but RE4 fixed some huge glaring issues, that should have been done long ago. |
