Let the Games begin! 360 vs PS3 Slim
360 vs PS3 Slim
With the introduction of the PS3 Slim to the gaming community, the 360 Elite is also dropping it's price to $299. My 360 recently broke which gives me the opportunity to either upgrade or change consoles. Now that the consoles are at the same price point it really is a hard decision. Before the $600 price tag on the PS3 and lack of popular titles had me sway towards the 360. But times have changed! there are so many Ps3 games that i haven't touched, albeit a much weaker online gaming community compared to the 360. what to do, what to do. It'll be interesting to see who benefits the most in 2010 in regard to the number of consoles purchased and software sales. |

defiantly interested in getting into a PS3 now, the price/size drop really helps the cause. the only problem is do you rebuy all the games you play on xbox to play with your ps3 friends? do you buy that new game coming out for ps3 or xbox? these choices will truly bend the mind.

i don't think you can really go wrong as long as you keep in mind what you have the most fun with.
ps3 and xbox have their own "exclusives" so pick whichever system's games you like more. xbox has a slicker and more populated online interface and, imo, when i have the choice of buying a game for either system i usually lean towards 360. ps3 has better multimedia capabilities imo, seems to play more formats, and has a bluray player built in. |

If you DID have both, I recommend buying cross platform launch titles on the XBOX.
For the most part games are developed on the 360 and play slightly better (usually optimized to a higher framerate) because games are developed on 360 development kits and then ported to the PS3. However, PS3 launch titles are fantastic (but too few and far between. could be because the production costs are gigantic). |

the 360 experience and games are much better overall, imo. holy fuck, 1 vs 100?! The shitty part about 360s is that they fucking suck ass, usually after a few years of ownership and the red ring of death comes..I know many 360 owners who have had to repair/replace, but I don't know many PS3 owners that have had to.
PS3 is worth owning for the blu ray player if anything, if you have a nice tv and watch regular dvds they look like crap. There are some exclusive titles for the PS system that aren't too bad either like Unchartered and LBP. you should probably own both! :) |

PS3 for me. It's ready to play right out of the box, it's online features are free, Sony makes tools such as the Havok engine available for free to third party developers, helping studios make games for the PSN with a small budget.
XBL still lacks dedicated servers and all they really did was popularize cross game chat and the concept of Achievements. Playing for free always wins. |

I don't really get into the whole debate between the two systems, but fyi this is wrong.
I've helped plan out server farms for a lot of 360 and PS3 games for more than one publisher. |

That's great. Plan more next time.

Depends on your main usage for a console - online play or more solo gaming. All my friends that I'd game online with are on the xbox so I'm a bit bias towards the xbox. I have all three consoles and my playability from highest to lowest ranks: 360>Wii>PS3. I find the whole overall experience of the xbox to be more fulfilling and enjoyable. Also the exclusives for Xbox (Gears, Halo, etc.) are better IMO. Even if Kill Zone 2 and Resistance looked good! I've never had any issues with my console really, although my bf is on his 3, 4 xbox...
You can't lay the PS3 Slim vertically - you have to buy a stand for $25, but then again, after $300 on a system, who cares about $25! The PS3 slim with it's free Playstation network is nice because you're paying $60 a year for the xbox live subscription. Get both! |

Personally I think you went with the right choice. Shiny bells and whistles don't really justify shoddy hardware that fails more often than not IMO. Course that could be the linux nerd in me hating all things Microsoft, but I don't think I ever see myself buying one of those overhyped boat anchors.

im on my second 360 and i still wouldnt want to get a ps3. i don't have the need to own every single console out there since really, the majority of wicked gameplay happens on the 360 on every level, over any other console. doesn't feel like im missing out on anything.
also not sure how heavy ps3 is on expansion packs, but from what i know xbl has the sony beat. you'll be able to replay some of the really big titles out there giving you more bang for your buck. rather than just shelving your $70 game after a week or so. |
