i liked this movie.
it's pretty slow paced, and the actors are pretty ugly (except the little girl, who's just so nerdily adorable)... but yea...
well here's the write up ...
Twelve-year-old Mindy Ho (Valerie Tian) is on a mission. Determined to bring happiness back into the life of her lonely, overworked single mother, Kin (Sandra Oh, Last Night, VIFF 98), Mindy turns to ancient Chinese Taoist magic to solve all their problems. But these powerful forces are a little too slippery for the young amateur spell-caster, and before long the whole neighbourhood seems to have been affected by her misdirected charms. From the middle-aged couple suffering from sudden employment woes, to the local butcher whose surprising newfound financial security is met with family discord, to the whirlwind of romantic affection that starts disrupting Kin's carefully crafted protective walls, no one seems immune to Mindy's accidental intervention. But is it really ancient Taoist magic awkwardly wielded by an enthusiastic 12-year-old that is causing so much trouble, or are intention and coincidence simply crossing wires with unpredictable results?
ahh! that girl's so cute!
canadi-asian comedy/drama/romance filmed in vancity
it's only playing at tinseltown, so if you've had enough hollywood for 1 lifetime, and are with some culture-craving starbucks employees... check it out... it's one of those movies that might touch you (like if you've ever heard your mom crying in the bathroom) and trigger some emotions, but will leave you smiling and in the end you'll walk out feeling like you're ready to be a better person...
not recommended for ravers, or slayer fans.
