I personally think Final7 kicks ass!! wish they would remake it for the graphics tho... but the story, characters, the humour & the fun factor... dope... damn emerald weapon etc. gives sum challenge. highly addictive. |

hrm, I enjoyed ffx a lot.
ff 5,6,7 were all pretty good as well. I thought ff8 was alright, it would have been better if they didn't have that time compression, memory loss crap. and if the game was solely based around laguna. as for Square games, xenogears is the greatest rpg ever created. those who argue otherwise are heretics... As for other companies, Tri-ace roxorz my soxorz. Valkyrie Profile was one of the most innovative games of all time. For a game that came out for the psx it's pretty impressive. It had decent voice acting, The first game I can remember where the protagonist was a female, unique battle system... I could go on... and also, Star Ocean 2 was pretty rad. The battle system was probably the coolest ever. For an RPG that is. The only problem was that the story was weak. |

6, 7 and 9 were just fucking sick, and have gotta be some of the best games Ive ever played! 8 wasnt that good and 10 was pretty good, those are the only ones Ive played...
Id say 7 is the best since it was the first one I played and the one that got me hooked. Sweet characters, story and best settings. Every aspect of that game was right on the money. Last edited by -ak47-; Mar 18, 03 at 05:43 PM. |

word on ff7 that was a dope game..my favourite for sure...its also the only one ive ever beat. it was fully developed in all ways and unlike many of the others the side quests
weren't mind numbingly boring and time consuming i used to like rpgs but now i get bored of em and never finish...hah |

suikoden owns. Now I'm going to go off on suikoden. Well, like I said, suikoden rocks my socks. For all 3 games, you get 6 characters in your unit. the cheesy 1vs1 battles, and mega battles are uber neat. The heroes for all three are all pretty badass. Your entire army has 108 characters. and not like guys, like actual characters. about 35- 50 of them are non playable but that means you can use the majority of them in battle. Suikoden is probably the most under-rated series EVER. Also, if you have save file from the first suikoden, you can use it in suikoden 2. And in suikoden 3, you can use suikoden 2 save data. It's pretty rad. Also, I said ff5 was pretty good. and chrono trigger was probably my favorite game for the snes era. The music was amazing, although I thought mitsuda out did himself for xenogears though. Gah... xenogears music is so incredibly moving... |

Aw damn, NO game fucked me up the way 6 did (3 in NA). I mean WOW. Everything about that game was amazing: the music, the characters, the story, the battle and magic customizing, Kefka being one of the best villains in all of RPG history.... Seriously, it would be like, get up and play for 16 hours, eat occasionaly, shave every three days, sleep for four hours and then jump back on it for another 16 hours. Where did the other four hours go? I don't know. Probably playing the game.
I loved Tactics to death, and I actually thought 9 was good too, though I'm surprised at how many people liked 7. I was pretty disappointed with it, to tell you the truth. The materia system was cool and the graphics pretty good, but I just started losing interest after you leave the city. Emmanuel |

Ok,
have any of you played xenogears? that is seriously the greatest RPG ever. There is nothing bad with that game. The greatest storyline, I've ever played through. Character developement is incredibly deep. Battle system was fun and innovative for it's time. The music is IMO mitsuda's best work.(Even better than chrono trigger)(Mitsuda is the second best video game composer out there, next to Uematsu.) It's too bad, I haven't heard anybody say anything about xenogears. People praise square for it's FF series, but what they don't know is that their greatest work was from game that was barely promoted. |

ff6!
And yeah Suikoden and Xenogears are my 2&3 choice for RPGs. Savage games. with a top notch story to all of them(haven't played Suikoden 3 yet. chose to buy Xenosaga first)Xenogears has to have one of my favorite battle systems. but for character skill/weapon systems i'd probly go for the job clas that was in tactics.throw in the ffX weapon customizing...savage rpg in the makes.......... |
