willy wonka & the chocolate factory

ok obviously u can't go wrong with this movie.

i bought the dvd version yesterday. the quality of the picture is exceptionally improved, i was shocked. plus u can watch the movie in french, spanish, and portuguese... there's your $30 right there.

for those of you who haven't seen this movie... umm... u better have a good reason. otherwise, i'll bring the movie over to ur house and ...maybe some popcorn if u ask nicely.

the best thing about this movie, is that it isn't just a cracked out kids movie. there's a strong moral to the story. and it really hits the less fortunate kids. it made me tingle inside, that's for sure.

willy wonka's character is really complex too... some ppl will say he's just another joker, crazed loony toon, ... in a way, he plays with people's minds a lot like i do. he finds the REAL in people by driving it out of them (acting like a NUT and seeing how people respond). as he tested the 5 children, he searched for only 1. someone with a true heart. anyways... i really admire the way gene wilder took on the character of willy wonka. i think he got the psychological mindset exactly where it was supposed to be. most actors these days would've gone too overboard with the character. as i'm sure we'll see in the upcoming remake of the movie...

hooray for oompa loompas.

I remember the BFG....Big Fuckn Guy, or something along those lines...i read it in Grade 3 so most of the story is gone...but wasnt it something like....kid meets giant....people are scared of giant....kid and giant become friends....etc?

Anyways i'm going to go do cartwheels and roll around my room yelling

"Oompa Loompa, dupedy doo....."

Roald Dahl was an amazing author of childrens literature...no matter what, I will always admire his wit and his imagination. Matilda, James and the Giant Peach, the BFG, the Twits, The Enormous Crocodiles, umm...The Pelican, Giraffe and Monkey or whatever that story was called (it was really cool, with the candy store and all), and a whoooole lot more. I think Matilda was my favorite. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was a great story.....I agree with everything you said about it Bob.

Ahhh.....memories...... :D:

I remember my lil' sis watched it when she was younger and she was sooooo scared of the oompa loompaz.....it still gives her chills....haha......

Anyways, getting back to things......Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is a great movie.....if only such a factory existed, eh?! Well, without all the bad stuff..... I'd love to see the DVD version...maybe I'll rent it or buy it or something...

Ooh....check this site out: www.roalddahl.com

I have to say this movie is WICKED!!! It was one of my favourites as a child! I totally agree MR. WONKA fucks with people's minds, and drives out the true person in anyone. In a way I think I learned from that, I tend to get the REAL person out of anyone...
...a lot of those types of movies (the fucked up ones, that make you wonder HOW they thought it up) were my favourites...not saying I'm fucked up, but it taught me to THINK just a little outside the boundaries for answers sometimes! *shrugs* But must confess, as being a girl, watching Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory made me CRAVE chocolate SOOOOO bad! MMM...want some now! ARGH!

Veruca Salt was my favourite btw....just a little bitch! Loved her character....
