I finally watched The Apprentice.
I figured, considering the amount of "Water Cooler" talk that would be surrounding this show if it lived up to the Hype it seems to be producing, I should probably educate myself so I can be hip and trendy in the world of subversive pop culture referencing.
So today, after Sam's save against Jason (for those that missed last week's, Jason was the team leader for the Men last week and he got fired even though Sam fell asleep on the job. Sam's last minute grovelling managed to push The Donald to fire Jason instead), the boys decided to elect Sam to give him a last chance: If he fails, he gets the boot, if he succeeds the guys manage to beat out the girls. A tactical move insofar as the game goes, but the guys are essentially fucking themselves over.
So their next task is to go around and negotiate the shit out of some hapless clerks and managers and try and talk them down for 9 items so that they can get them as cheap as possible. Whoever has the best possiblecost-to-actualcost ratio at the end of the day wins.
So Sam fucks everything up. Seemingly off to a good start, Sam's "visionary" approach goes overboard in true Hitler fashion and the empire just proceeds to crumble because Sam doesn't seem to respect his men enough to let them do their jobs, he has to keep hounding at them (I guess that he wanted it like a Football game, so hounding was part of the coaches job. But it seemed like he was basically running out on the field whenever there was a huddle).
Basically, he really needed to read Ender's Shadow. He would have benifited from the idea that part of being a good leader is having good leaders in your team. But he looked far too much of himself as a authoritarian, which outright doesn't work in small groups.
So he flopped it. His team ended up dropping a bunch of the stuff they needed to do to get $5 in savings, and in the end they made all their good deals in the last hour, and the guys were screwed.
The girls, despite their catfighting, acted like girls and did what girls normally do to get us sucker guys to give them whatever they want, flash a little bit of the boobie and bounce around like a high school girl asking for a lollipop to the Big Buff Delivery Man just before they go boink for half an hour and in the end he cums all over her face with dubbed in moans added post-preduction. And man oh man did they spell a new level of "suckerdom" for men.
All in all, the women actually understood the idea of placing a tongue firmly up the ass of the person whilst at the same time completely overhauling all dignity they possibly had, with cameras crammed in their face at that. Good job men. Way to stick up for our side of the gene pool.
So in the end, Girls kicked the crap out of the guys, saving over twice as much per dollar as them and completely working them over. In the board room, The Donald asks what went wrong, everybody blames Sam. Of course, Sam claims he never had the respect, and The Donald never gives him the line I was hoping for: You have to earn your respect, dumbass. Nobody gives it liberally, especially in a competitive environment.
Sam got fired. The Donald said it was one of the easiest firings he had to do. Sam had a purely dramatic exit and look that he wanted to tear down The Donald's entire empire. I think he's going to go into therapy or something.
My review of the show is that it seemed more applicable and more real than Survivor, and got down to some real nitty gritty of higher business. It was nice to see the guys falter because it almost showed a hint that these guys had no idea how to deal with "commoners" and the girls just looked outright foolish. It was about 30 times more entertaining than I ever found Survivor or any Reality TV, garnering a whole 1 out of 10. It was shameless commercialism and truer feeding of the trolls, crowd pleasing instead of entertaining as the Big Corporate America of entertainment seems to be so bent out on, what with their Britney Spears and Christina Aguilara or however the fuck you pronounce it. These are the same people that try to package shit on a disc and sell it for about 3000% markup. And the more we watch it and talk about it, the more it hurts the brain and dumbens society so that it's so easily controlled by the fear tactics of an "Elevated" risk of terrorist attack. Keep feeding the machine kids.
And that is EVERYTHING I have to say about The Apprentice.
