just saw last week... definitely had to pay more attention than I had expected... i guess i thought it was good but none of the philosophical ramblings were really anything new to me and they really didn't do the greatest job of explaining their discussion of life as a waking dream vs. dreams as waking life... didn't get into enough detail as to the actual point of the movie i guess.
it was good but definitely not four star material - best part was when the guy lit himself on fire... Last edited by pbreak; Mar 04, 04 at 01:55 PM. |

Okay, I own this movie. I agree that a lot of the philosophical ramblings in it are nothing new, but most of them are pretty interesting. Also, if there is a character or a philosophy that you don't like or find boring, you can just zone out and watch the cool visuals. My favourite person was the one talking about how we're just ants running around without really interacting with anyone. I mean, it's something we've heard before, but it's presented in a new way. Gotta give them props for that.

i love this movie.
the first time i saw it, i didn't realize the context of the film. the main character has DIED. so, the whole time he is wandering around talking to people, he is dreaming. the human mind stays alive for a few minutes after the body dies. the whole point of the movie is, if you died all the sudden, would you know it, or would you just keep dreaming like you were asleep? thats why he couldn;t wake up. its the characters last few minutes of brain activity. then he dies. cool, eh? |
