MGS2-NOV 15th-A PS2 MUST HAVE!!!

For anyone who didnt play the playstation installment of the Metal Gear series, which was probably the best game ever made, play it!! And in about 2 weeks the much improved sequel to the best game ever is being released for playstation 2 (im so glad i forked out the money for that instead of that fantasy bra)...uhh neways...

Now why do you ask was MGS the best game ever? Well, first off, gameplay...people might rate story as the #1 factor in deciding if a game is good or not but unless its fun to play-i cant play it. Trying to make the game realistic yet fun, the game is based on you sneaking around various facilities...you can crawl under stuff-press your back up against walls and peek around corners, you can use your scope (binoculars, which btw, display useful stuff like a compass and xyz axis instead of stupid 1101010110 like in other "spy" games) to spy on guards' patroling patterns, you can knock a guard out and drag him into a dark corner so his fellow guards dont become alarmed, which can also happen by them seeing your footprints in the snow (they then follow them), hearing you walk through a puddle or on metal flooring...and you can even hide in a cardboard box and sneak around like a cartoon character who picks up a bush and tippy toes around. MGS2 has alo improved on the realism by including first-person shooting, blood trails when you are injured, you can also hop onto things, and the better graphics allow you to see enemy shadows around corners...sentrys are smarter too, if youve been spotted and hide in a locker they'll open it...

Apart from gameplay (Which i didnt fully expand on...theres soo much i know i forgot stuff) there are other things that make the game so realistic, like your items. First you start off without a weapon but if you look around enough (and you have to in these games) youll find a handgun called a socom, a real gun made by H&K equipped with a trigger mounted lazer and if you look hard enough you can find a supressor for it (a supressor is like a silencer but it supresses heat and light as well hence, supressor)
There are other real guns you find as well like an assault rifle, a sniper rifle, a portable rocket launcher with controllable rockets (yes, its real), and a portable guided misile launcher (which also brings up one of the few unreal parts of the game, how the hell does he carry this shit?? must have felix the cats majic bag...)
As for other weapons there are stun grenades wich explode onto a blinding flash and super high-pitch sound that in capacitates people, chaff grenades-like the jet fighter ones, but smaller, which explode and spread thousands of carbon granules that get into electronic equipment and cause shorts (a drawback is it fucks up your radar for a bit) good for getting through a room with 50 cameras in it (i never got that part but i laughed a lot), and theres c4, which you are supposed to use to blow up walls to reach other parts of the complex but its fun to blow people up too right? Plus your gear is cool too! you have a scope (which i already mentioned), a pack of smokes which you smuggled into this mission (good for spotting laser traps!), and some rations (for health), you can also find infra red-goggles (better for spotting lazer traps!), a digital camer (for all those "kodak" moments), diezepam (an anti-anxeity drug that prevents muscle spazms so you can snipe with better accuracy-but take too many and you might get addicted...), cardboard boxes (which also allow you to be transported between facilities if u hide on a truck in one), ketchup (to fake a death), cold medicine (the arctic is COLD yanno? besides, you dont want a guard to hear you cough), and prolly some other shit but i wanna eat lunch soon.

Theres also a wicked ambient-technoish soundtrack and stylish anime characters, plus the incredible story (they even got military advisors to write this one-which has about 6 hours of dialogue with the best voice actors youll ever hear in a video game)

so having said that...BUY IT!!!

buy me it, too, if you can :P

i've never been able to get into the metal gear craze... i don't know why... i think the series has always been top of the line when it comes to gameplay, graphics, story, etc... it's a fucking amazing game... i just can't get into it....

i played MGS for PSX and i beat it in a couple days, with a little walkthrough help of course... i just really didn't enjoy the game... maybe it's cuz the whole game just seems like a movie, and i think i'd rather just watch it, instead of having to do everything myself........ isn't that what james bond was created for? so i could sit at home and watch some secret agent go around and kill a bunch of people...?

i don't know why though, cuz i love games like silent hill... and MGS is almost the same type of game... then again, i HATE tomb raider...

which reminds me, i still haven't bought SH2... that's been "next on my list" for a while now..........

sorry, i won't be buying MGS2, i probably won't even rent it... my friend will probably buy it, so i'll just borrow it from him to see what it's like...

maybe i'm just a stuck up RPG'er... haha...
