No not at all. I'm a huge fan and I feel the same way. Anyone who studies cinema will tell you that he infact is not making documentaries, but rather "Narrative Non-Fiction In His View". Meaning that all his movies are from his perspective, he uses the pieces of interviews he wants to make everyone he wants look evil, etc etc etc. He may be a bit biased, however he is a neccesary evil in my opinion. He's producing wide-spread information that needs to be discussed. Fahrenheit 9/11 will single handed be the reason that the bush's don't get voted in 2004. Infact the Republican government already has a ban on it, and the Democrats started a 20,000 man petition to get it viewed. over a movie? they have tremendous power. |

if michael moore has brought back anything....he's brought back the kind of film that takes a certain bias and crams it down the viewers throat until they have no choice but to accept his point of view. a documentary has to show both sides of the story...granted the documentarian has a certain point they want to get across, but they have to explore all the angles before they can successfully create this point. a lot of his facts are skewed as well to make his movie look better. remember that bank that gives out guns? well there is a bank that gives out a gun if you sign up with them, but they give it to you thirty days after you sign up for an account so they have accurate time to do a background check and all that stuff. they don't actually keep the guns in the bank. this was just one of the ways that Moore changed the facts to make his point stronger. he's a cool guy, i'll give him that. but i did not enjoy Bowling for Columbine much...okay it's a pretty good movie, but as far as documentary goes, it's not good. i don't think it should have won at all. if you want to go see a good documentary go see Supersize Me. Then compare it to Bowling and you'll see the difference in style. |

^ SupersizeMe is also a bit of a biased example. However there's factors put in place. He explains what he's doing, gets doctors to monitor it, and throughout the film attempts to get the official "McDonalds" spokeman to speak on their behalf.
If Micheal Moore were to do the film, he'd film all his interviews, the edit them until they're funny and embarrasing to the people involved, then slap it together as a documentary. |

^so true.
yeah, the film is a little biased, but he doesn't really start out with a bias against mc donalds much, it is created as the movie goes on to show certain things about that kind of food. also he does interview that guy who ate like 19000 big macs and is still alive and pretty skinny. doing a documentary in the style of michael moore is damn fun though. i remember doing one on the old people in white rock. we interviewed some old people, filmed one for a couple hours and ask them questioned and also asked the teens in the area some questions. and then we edited so it would just be a funny movie. we weren't trying to make an actual documentary, but we did get some hilarious out of it. |

yeah for sure, i mean we all have our own biases and strong views. and when you have footage of someone or something in your power and a good editing program you can really make the person say anything you want them to say or look as stupid as you want them to look.

haha yay Lance!
Eternal Sunshine was my favourite movie I've seen this year as well. i think it's going to be one of those movies that sweeps up a whole bunch of awards and leaves most of the population asking 'what movie was that? when did that come out?' |
