KandyKid's Movie of the Week Thread
I'm a Movie freak as some of you know and watch ATLEAST 1 movie every two days.
Anyways, this week, I recommend that Everyone watch "Leon" AkA "The Professional". Its got a great storyline, action through the entire movie, no dull long boring sappy scenes, great actors playing spectacular characters. HERE are some reviews of this movie. My Score: 9/10 Last edited by KandyKid; Jun 12, 04 at 03:35 AM. |

Next Movie :)
Run Lola Run (Lola Rennt) SO GOOD...there are subtitles though cause it is German. Its a shorter movie (about 80 minz) but its all action and not a single dull moment. HERE is the Review. I really enjoyed it, and Lola is HAWT SHIT, which is just a bonus to an already great flick. The red hair definetly does it for me, heh. Anyways, its a movie that you have to pay attention to or you may not know what the hell is going on, the movie takes place over the span of 20 minutes, how trippy is that :) 8.5/10 (8 but since she is hawt +.5) |

Run Lola Run is a great film. Set up like a video game.
my movie pick: Waydowntown great canadian film, interesting premise about a group of friends that live downtown and make a bet to see who can stay inside the longest since everything is connected by walkways...their apartments, malls, work....and they start to slowly go insane from being inside. it's a dark comedy, but those are my favourite and the fact that it's canadian makes it so much better. |

Check out Purple Noon - might be hard to find this one. This is a really old but intense & modern looking French movie that was kept unreleased until recently.
The Talented Mr. Ripley is a modified remake of the same story, OK but not nearly as good as Purple Noon. http://movie-reviews.colossus.net/top100/83.html http://www.suntimes.com/ebert/ebert_...07/070303.html |

Nothing like Watching a Movie in Morning in Bed :) Unless it was long dull and boring...
Reservoir Dogs was not my kind of movie, which saddens me because I am a big Quentin Tarantino fan. Its about a bunch of guys that hit a diamond store for a nice grab, but there was an inside man on the job and they got set-up. I dont wanna spoil the movies, hence I never go into them in detail, but the movie was lacking something, I just cant put my finger on it. What I did like about the movie was the character development, expecially Mr. Pink and Mr. White (the guy that brutalized the cop..) Mr. Pink is always a good actor in any role he plays though, so that is no suprise. Anyways, HERE is the Review, how it got #71 all time, I dont know, but Im no critic, so :( 6/10 |

Next Movie :)
21 Grams Emotionally, this movie has all the bases, it really gets you thinking how much we should apreciate life. At first I thought it would be a sappy story, but I enjoyed every bit of the movie. HERE are some reviews. I wouldn't recommend this movie unless you are into movies that you have to watch and pay attention to the entire movie through, if you can't sit on your ass and apreciate a good flick for 2 hours, go watch some simple-minded shit. 8/10 |

Next Movie :)
Euro Trip Very good movie, Funny thing is, I'm going on a trip all around Europe next summer as well, hitchhiking with my cousin from France to Poland to Sweden then back to Poland. Anyways, Back to the Movie, its nothing spectacular, just plain funnay, basically the same thing as Road Trip, which was a blast. HERE is a short review. I recommend this movie, even though the storyline is tacky and sorta predictable at time, its just fun fun halarious times. 7/10 |

A Note on "Leon" and "The Professional":
While they're both technically the same movie, Luc Besson was pressured into re-editing (and cutting) "Leon" for North American audiences. The US distributor thought that the inter-generational love story at the focus of Besson's script was a little bit too french-art-movie-sexual-innuendo, and tried to keep it more of a cool action movie... "The Professional." As a result, "Leon," which you can get uncut on DVD, is a much better movie. Much better as in "Lord of the Rings Extended" compared to "Lord of the Rings Theatrical." Luc Besson is a genius. Watch his actual film. |

Anyways, Next Movie :) Along Came Polly Well, its a Monday night and I didn't want to watch anything too depressing nor was I in the mood for action or whatnot, so I decided to give this a watch. Ben Stiller is just funny in every role he plays, what a great actor, he is the only reason I decided to give this movie a chance, Jennifer Aniston was a little bonus, I think she is a great supporting role in this flick. HERE are some reviews, This is the kind of movie that you remember for about 2 months then it dissapears like a fart in the wind, good for a watch, but nothing memorable. 5.5/10 |
