Does the new CS run OK on a fairly decent PC?

I had Halo 1 and it was OK when not too much action but it got crappy and bogged down during battles. I think it woulda run a lot better if they worked on the code more.

2.5 P4 , 512 ram, 7200 rpm hd, ATI 9700 128 Mb vid card - computer's about a year old. Works fast on my normal stuff but I don't do much gaming.

here's the recommended specs:
2.4, 512mb, dx9, and you know the rest

my 9600 pro works pretty good for it.. but just get new drivers.

Since doom has not the money for half life 2, he must wait for a decent torrent to pop up... there were some this morning, but they have all disappeared since.

I got the new drivers from ATI, but it leaves me with 2 "unknown" in my hardware specs. I am not running XP SP2, but should that matter?

I downloaded via Steam (grumble). Now when I attempt to load the game it boots me into a 800x600 of my desktop then freezes. I have to C/A/Delete to get out.

HELP!!! I wanna play :S

Great so far :D

I'm running it with a P4 1.8 Ghz, GeForce 3 64 MB, and 256 MD RDRAM
on 800x600 and its playing great. The load times are pretty long tho, I need to get more RAM.

Just saw the opening of this game today.... Intense... reminds me of Thief it's so cool... AND SO FUCKING DETAILED!

Installing right now. Actually went out and bought it. ;)

The fun thing is, I used to play on a HL1 server that had entity moving (No, it's not adminop, adminmod, AMX, or anything else you can just download. Made by the guy that ran the server.) and other crazy crap, possibly what inspired the gravity gun. And I'm hoping to learn enough programming to recreate what that server had in HL2, but it also looks like most of the work is already done.

These are the halflife 2 specsor the CS specs? I want to know what the specs are for Halflife....

overall great game. I can't say the same for the lame steam install process. If anymore games are release this way, I'm not buying them anymore.

The only rant I have is about the retail vs the steam versions.

With the retail, after you have installed it, you still need to put the cd/dvd into the drive to play the game. People who boguht off the steam website and d/ed it do not have too. Annoying. I hope they patch this out soon.
