if you wanna see a love movie, it's a great movie.
but if you want action, fast forward to the part at pearl harbor. (the whole 15 minutes of action! wow!!) and then fast forward to the end when they go on another mission. the action that it DID have was AWESOME... awesome animation, awesome effects, awesome setup (the way it was all played out). it was a bit long for my liking, since how my ass gets sore after watching a movie for 1 and 1/2 hours, let alone 3 and a bit... they could've cut the movie off right after the pearl harbor scene and it would've been a great action/love movie. i would recommend this movie for romance lovers, not action lovers. but nevertheless it was a good movie. |

i liked this movie...i actually understood it cuz i took history which made it weirdly more enjoyable...
lotsa sad parts...specially the people stuck in teh boats..hammering to be heard.. i think the love story took over the main events like it did in titanic but then again..i like love stories.. |

I can't say that I liked this movie in the least. Besides for the special effects it was nothing but an overdramatized, American propaganda filled, over-glorified, predictable Hollywood flick.
Come on, how many times have we seen the predictable love story where something happens to the main character and someone else steps in, they die and tell him to carry on his legacy. The love story was predictable and I didn't find it very well-constructed. If it was really "true love" then why would he leave her to run off and play war hero? THe person that really cared about her and would've given her the world had to die and then this heartbreaking scene had to happen where he tells his best friend who is both immature and petty to take care of his girl and his kid... I dunno... Kinda weak if you ask me. As well, the portrayal of the Japanese was just ridiculous. I don't think they plan their war strategies in a shallow pool in loin cloths. THe only reason that the Japanese executed the Pearl Harbor Massacre was because the US were too stupid to pick up on the fact that they were coming which was probably the only realistic thing in the movie... How come they don't come out with a current new action flick depicting the heroism of two little Japanese boys chasing some girl after Hiroshima? Oh wait, if they weren't destroyed by the bomb, they were made sterile and ended up with cancer for the rest of their lives. Ethnocentrism at it's best... THe plot had little to do with the actual event of Pearl Harbor since it only acted as a setting for this sappy love story and two boys who wanted to play hero and fight over some girl. Call me cynical, I didn't like it. |

Pearl Harbour was a lot better than I expected!
I watched it w/ a war-fiend and he got the war and I got the romance. Although I like war films too, but he's a fiend. And it had comedic efforts! I would have cried at the end, I was in a really teary mood that day, but than my boyfriend would have called me a girl, and I'm just not into admitting the blatant obvious all the time. I also thought the 2nd did not have enough blood and hardship. |
