Lord of the Rings
I'm dissappointed in this movie, even though I guess I shouldn't have had very high expectations I was still expecting something worthy of the epic series of novels by J.R.R. Tolkien. Oh well, at least I didn't pay more than 8 bucks to see it...
Here's a listing of what I found annoying, missing, or just plaing wrong. 1. No Tom Bombadil. 2. No Barrow Wights. 3. Where was the scene where the hobbits got Bill the pony? 4. What happened to Farmer Maggot? 5. ARWEN. 6. The score was fiercely annoying, most of the music in the movie was distracting and served only to divert the viewers attention from the acting by inducing a false emotional response from the viewers. 7. Agent Smith - Agent Elron. Bad casting IMO. 8. Too much CG, it was blatantly obvious and too transparent. 9. Too many extreme close ups during which: a. the character's faces did not move. b. a single tear rolled down their cheek. 10. Too much crying. 11. Annoying voice acting in some points. 12. Bilbo turning into a Gollum-like creature for a second at Rivendale. That was just stupid. 12. Galadriel. Specifically the part where she gets 'scary', I thought it was over-done, maybe in an attempt to compensate for the lack of natural drama. 13. ARWEN. 14. Elijah Wood as Frodo? The kid was in FLIPPER for chris'sakes... 15. Was far too graphical, left little in the way of suspense and showed the enemy far too clearly. The hosts of Mordor should be nearly invisible shadows, not bright growling CG characters. 16. Battle scenes did not look too good at 22 frames a second, to my eye at least. Slow that camera down. 17. But don't slow it down too much! Too much cheesy slow-mo used throughout the movie. 18. Lots more, but I'm tired... Blah! bLAH! |

Yes... Elijah Wood also has a MASSIVE NECK!! ITS FUCKING HUGE MAN!!
It's like a TREE TRUNK attatched to his head, or something! AHHHHHHH! RUN FROM THE NECK! IT WILL SWALLOW YOUUUU ALIVE.. Anywyas, yeah. Too much cheese.. It was fairly epic though. I'm sure I'll find a lot more problems with it when I actually read the book. |

Hmm...well I actually quite liked it. I haven't yet read the books so that could be part of it. But I actally liked the score...there aren't a lot of movies out there right now that use strictly instrumental pieces. It was a nice change and I felt like all the music fit all the scenes like a glove!
I found that the time went by fairly quickly, however, at some points in the movie I felt as though the scene was going by too slowly and they needed to just get to the point. Personally, I can't wait for the next movie next Christmas =0) I might even get off my lazy ass and read the books before the second one comes out!! |

Wow, someone who agrees with me!!! I really, really didn't like it. I'll make a list why too!
It was formulaic. Every twenty minutes there was a battlescene, followed by an "emotional" moment with a tear rolling down a cheek. It was disjointed. Everything happened so quickly, they get from one place to another like that. Oh, and WTF was with Arwen!?!# Look, we're going to tack on this unrelated scene so that we can cover the love story side! *growls* They skipped the beautiful narratives and all the beauty and peacefullness of the books (like the singing at Rivendell) in exchange for a zillion Hollywood-style battlescenes. THE MALE BONDING AT THE END! WTF! Alright, he's dying, you're sad, get over it. Half an hour later... Ugh. Oh, and the acting. Elrond was too Agent Smith-y. Galadriel was too wishy washy and her being evil was retarded. FRODO WAS A FUCKING WUSS! All the other hobbits were less so. Gandalf was weak, and played too eccentricly. Why did BILBO have Alzheimers?! Who the fuck was Arwen!? Why did they cut out the rivalry between the dwarves and the elves and the bonding between Legolas and Gimli?! That was such an important part. Gwah! |

Having read the the prequel before hand ( the hobbit) The whole story made alot of sense to me. I saw it for the second time tonite, ( i'm such a geek) but this time on mushrooms, and i seemed to be sooo much deeper and intense. No doubt cuz i was on shroomz, but it is definately sumthing i'd recommend tryin . It was almost like the movie was meant to be seen on muhsrooms. Anyways, can't wait for part 2

I actually LOVED it. I haven't read the books (I've read The Hobbit though), but the movie made me want to read the second installment lol.
I thought it was way better than Harry Potter. And as usual, the people who are disappointed are usually ppl who have read the book. But you gotta realize that you can't fit the whole book in one movie. Esp a book of this magnitude! I should go read the book and compare for myself hehe. But I don't have the dedication to read through something thicker than It lol. |

wasn't it a good thing that elijah woods got shanked twice? it was too bad he had armour during the second attack i was laughing by then.
how can agent smith be a bad thing? i thought that was like the funniest part...watching a smith play as agent elf. same grim look from the matrix. oh well...the movie was a bit predictable and frodo was harsh too scared shizzleless everytime there was trouble him and dem shorties would leak their pants if not their eyes. it's good to know that it's only fiction that everyone dies for elijah. kuz he's really not worth it hahaha. wonder how it woulda turned out if maculay culkin took the role. or better yet... mini.me hahahahaaha!!! |

yeah that's why they casted agent smith cause in the second lord of the rings, neo comes to help frodo and agent smith is like "you know what I hate about those hobbits... the smell" and he starts firing his arrows and neo is like "whoa" and he holds out his hand and stops the arrows and then he rushes agent smith and deletes his file again.
ugh, fook I need sleep... |

Well, I never read the books, so I wasn't completely spoiled for the movie and thought it was really well done. I read the Hobbit years ago, so I wasn't completely lost on the storyline of what happened before Lord of the Rings. The battle scenes were awesome to look at, the scenary was beautiful (reminded me a bit of What Dreams May Come), and the casting of characters was pretty good for the most part.
Some of the battle scenes were a little unrealistic though (come on, one mortal human fighting a hundred orcs and winning? Unless he's got some mega-super powers, I just don't see it happening). And I thought Frodo was too much of a wimp (fuck, at least TRY to fight back! don't just lay there and get stabbed when you could've easily rolled out of the way, moron!) And yes, all the crying started to bug me too after a while. *demented hugz* ~ Trinity ~ |
