Summary:
A young man named Adam wakes to find himself chained to a rusty pipe inside a decrepit subterranean chamber. Chained to the opposite side of the room is another bewildered captive, Dr. Lawrence Gordon. Between them is a dead man lying in a pool of blood, holding a .38 in his hand. Neither man knows why he has been abducted, but instructions left on a microcassette order Dr. Gordon to kill Adam within eight hours. If he fails to do so, then both men will die; Dr. Gordon’s wife, Alison, and his daughter will also be killed. Recalling a recent murder investigation by a police detective named Tapp, Dr. Gordon realizes he and Adam are the next victims of a psychopathic genius known only as “Jigsaw.” With only a few hours left to spare, they must unravel the elaborate puzzle of their fate in the midst of mounting terror. The killer has provided them with only a few clues and two handsaws--too weak to break their steel shackles, but strong enough to cut through flesh and bone.

HEH, I give it an B+ on the scale. Good, but not buying worthy, I would possibly rip it. Rather watch "House of 1000 Corpses" anytime.

yeah, i'd give it about 3 stars. sure, it has an original plot and some pretty fuckin' sick and twisted things going on in it...and of course, the ending is a pretty big mindfuck. buuuuuut sometimes the acting was not so great and when the acting is not so great (especially in a movie like that, where you have to create tension and suspense) it can really ruin the mood.

it was just a little annoying because the script and movie calls for a lot of tense moments and angry emotions and such...and when some of the actors couldn't really pull it off the movie totally lost its momentum.

most def, but how difficult is it to think up some "trippy shit".. the hard part of a movie with such twisted direction is good plot. I dont think saw has this.

i wish they had organized the 'flash backs to earlier crimes' better. it's been awhile since i saw this movie (since i saw it when it came out in theatres), but i seem to remember being annoyed at something to do with the flashbacks. they should have taken a page out of the 'Seven' handbook in how to develop a plot about a serial killer. 'Seven' is probably one of the best serial killer movies i've seen.

warning: don't read or it'll spoil a surprise!

ok, did anyone else have a problem with the fact that the doctor could've potentially used the saw he used to hack off his foot to get the cellphone he was reaching for, that originally motivated him to hack his foot off in the first place??

I was disappointed with it, the story had potential but it was escalated poorly. I was expecting a lot more gore than there was, I mean they didn't even show any blood at all.

There was another low budget, piss poor acted horror movie along the same premises called, "My Little Eye". It's about a few teenagers staying in a house through some reality tv show where if they survive they win a wad of cash. Well at least the ending was similar.

I could think of a handful of better horror movies than this one, but it wasn't horrible.

personally im sick of all these bang-em-out horrors were drilled w/ over the past year. one liner titles made so vauge your almost curious to go pay the buck at the theater to kill your itch. the grudge, the village, cursed, saw.. plus I shit you not in march there will be two movies released; the cave and the jacket. (march 11th 2005) what is with this new trend in quickbuck horror, give me return of the dead and anything from freddy or jason and im happy.

My little eye was ok for the budget it had, but the ending was very predictable.

the movie "Saw"

possible spoilers in my post, so dont read ahead if you wana see it.. haha

lets get back on track to talking about teh original movie in the thread, no de-railing the horror that is "Saw", and when i say horror- i mean a horrible job of acting by almost all of the cast. this is my own personal review of the film and i just want to remind you all that im not trying to troll, im just very against this movie and the fact that some rich people actually let it play in theatres.

The movie started out interesting, grabbed interest, but quickly lost it when that older guy kept on getting zapped by his chains. the acting job in that scene alone would have made the movie worth seeing for it might have been the worst acting of the century (and were only in 2005).

the writing was also pretty horrid, correction: the ideas and concepts for the deaths were sorta neat i suppose, but everything in between the killings and suicides was to laugh at. (the dialogue i suppose) ex: in the scene where danny glover is chasing after the suspect he shouts this out "IMA KILL YO SICK ASS!!". my level of respect for mr glover went down quite a few notches in that scene alone. where was mel gibson?

so, its not an extensive review, but thats my opinion. the reason i only remembered those few things is because i am (to this day) trying to forget the time i wasted seeing that movie in a theatre, those certain things just stuck out enough for me to share with you kind folks in hopes you dont see this movie or one like it.

i think some of you take movies too seriously. the flashbacks themselves were worth my time; seein the sick bastards way to have people commit suicide was awesome
the ending kinda pissed me off though

saw was a much better movie than house of 1000 corpses. for 1 it actually had a plot, the actors werent extremely annoying and the ending was good. it dropped my jaw in the theater. i do watch most of the horror flicks that come out because i like cheap thrill horror flicks. i wouldnt say that saw is a movie like that, just because it had such a good storyline and it wasnt cheesy like a scream or chucky movie.

p.s. house of 1000 corpses sucked, the blonde broad should have actually been killed and used as an extra corpse.
