Truly touching and inspirational.....really wonderful writing and acting.....Russell Crowe was amazing..... I won't say more because I hate it when people post in here and give away the storyline and ending........=) Go see it...! *Jen* |

Seriously now, I haven't been on this chatsite for very long but what is the point of posting that you haven't seen a movie that someone has done a review for? Just go out and see it for yourself instead of posting msgs about not seeing it.
It's a good movie in a lot of senses. I found the story intriguing but I thought that the movie was a little slow and a little too long. It's kind of amusing that they didn't leave in the fact that he got a messy divorce and an estranged kid. I did like that the movie let the main character be vulnerable and put him through a whole bunch of challenges and it wasn't some miracle cure at the end making him overcome his problems. However, in many cases, the movie doesn't show the full spectrum of what schizophrenia can really do to a person and how it affects them. Even though it's really difficult to create a live action replication of what goes on in people's minds, one must understand that schizophrenia is not only a disease that causes multiple personalities or hallucinations but a complete loss of your grip on reality. The movie did a pretty good job of portraying that for the most part. I do think that Russell Crowe was very good in the film. The part for Jennifer Connely didn't really encompass much with her performance and I would've liked to see more emphasis on how his schizophrenia really affected other people emotionally and mentally on deeper levels instead of just focusing on Crowe's character only. However, a good movie.. I liked it... |

Crunch....yeah I was really surprised at the reaction my bf had to the movie.....he really enjoyed it. I think initially it seems like sort of a "chick flick" but once you've watched it you realize that it is more of a film for and about human nature.....
Kittiara......I agree that the movie could have touched on different bases of how schizophrenia affects both the person and others but you have to keep in mind that it was already lengthy enough.....and it is just a movie. =) On the subject of Jennifer Connelly.....all I can say is that that is some way to make a comeback. She is such a beautiful and wonderful actress. *Jen* |
