The Ultimate Fighter on Spike
Well, it's down to the semifinals.
Tonight's fight between Josh and Diego was amazing! Since the show started, I havn't really picked one fighter that I wanted to see make it all the way. But, Diego's three fights have been awesome. In the first two he showed that he is a master of submissions, ending both of the fights in under 2 minutes. Tonight he came out against a fighter that had proven to be a better wrestler than him. He really impressed me with his many counters. |

ya it was a good fight, its lucky for diego that josh has no submissions and ran outa juice for the 3rd round, josh had some many chances to ground and pound the fuck out diego but he just had nothing left. I think once josh learns some stand up and a few basic submissions he could be a very good fighter, he needs better conditioning as well.

Yeah, it's funny how they were talking about how everyone was concerned about Diego's endurance. I sure didn't see Diego leaning over, with his hands on his knees, in the middle of the third round.
I wouldn't say Diego is lucky for Josh not having any submissions. I'd say Josh is lucky that he was able to get away from Diego's submissions and actually put the fight in the hands of the judges. If the first round would have been 5 seconds longer, it would have been all over for Josh. It's amazing how Josh said he knew he was a better wrestler than Diego, and yet Diego was the one in control whenever they went to the ground. I'm pullin for Diego to take the final. Kenny Florian is an awesome fighter with an amazing amount of guts. Diego showed that he can stand up and trade with whoever and whenever, and if the fight goes to the ground... the final will be one short match. |

I'll still want to see the fight, even though the outcome will be fairly predictable.
If I was Kenny, I'd just try to counter everything. If he tries to take it to the ground, stay on your feat and vice versa. He may get lucky and be able to waste a round or two on the ground in a guard or something, and put the match in the judges hands, but if he gets caught then he is in big trouble. |

i still can't believe one of the judges scored the match for Josh - all he did was takedown and escape submissions.
Josh has the natural ability, but he needs to cross train more. There were a couple times in that fight where diego gave his back and josh had no idea what to do in that situation. Still a good fight tho - I'm pulling for diego just cause I prefer submission fighting to gnp and standup guys... |

Word up to the fights tonite.
Hoger showed he COULD standup n fight, though he showed he can't grapple worth a damn. Good on him, though I never doubted he'd lose. It was only right that Forrest was able to fight. Swick did well. Really well. I'd say he was winning, and would've continued. Shoulda let go of the fence at the last, though. Oh well, This was a fight I wanted to see since the beginning. No physical mismatches, just straight style on style. |

yea, i was impresesd by Swick. The dude is a natural middleweight and was fighting at LHW. Bonar probably had at least 15 pounds on him (i know the weigh-in was less, but most of those guys gain back some weight after the weigh-in).
I thought Swick had it with that guillotine - especially when Bonnar's face was turning red and he started making that gurgling noise... Some of the reversals that Swick pulled were pretty cool too. Too bad he got caught with that armbar (sweet move - I love the triangle choke/armbar - two submissions in one!)... Swick probably would have lasted those last couple seconds if he was just in the triangle... I hope Swick has a chance to get into the UFC or Pride for a middleweight division - he'd probably do really well fighting at 185... |
