I saw a prescreening as well and I thought the movie was quite well done.
The Batmobile was kind of stupid but otherwise it was a good watch. Movie moves right along, has a few laughs and the character build up as smooth. Ended with a nice flow into the Joker story. |

I heard that the director made everyone directly participating in this movie watch Blade runner, then said, that is the type of mood I want in this movie.
Either way, have been looking forward to seeing this since they announced that the next batman movie they were making was going to be much much darker then the last few. |

watched this today.
kinda disappointed by the action scenes. Been watching way too many kung fu movies that have one long shot action scenes. I don't know, I'm not a fan of action scenes being cut up, it makes it a bit harder to follow and action doesn't seem as exciting when you know most of it is camera tricks. as far as the story goes, I quite liked it. I was really pleased with the way the mood went with this one. I still think tim burtons first two shots at batman were superior but I think only because of the poor action scenes in this one. Besides that definately worthy of the batman name. If they ever make another batman, I hope they follow in this ones foot steps. on a side note, there were some good previews for this movie, Willy Wonka and Serenity both looked very good. |

^Considering Christian Bale has signed on for at least another two movies I'm pretty sure that they're going to be moving the franchise in the same direction.
As for the movie itself, I loved it. I hate to say it but Michael Keaton has been ousted as the best Batman. Bale finally managed to do a proper adaptation of both the Bruce Wayne and Batman characters. Gary Oldman was a perfect Sgt. Gordon as well.... bang on to the comics. Cillian Murphy was PERFECT as Scarecrow.... we haven't seen the last of him either. Scarecrow is easily one of the best Batman rogues out there. I didn't like the fact that they felt like they had to add characters who don't exist in the comics into the movie, such as Katie Holmes character. It's not a big deal but I think the story stands up quite well on it's own without added garbage. I guess you won't get the chicks out at the movie unless there's kissing at the end. I think with all of the Arkham Asylum inmates running loose they have a plethora of villains to choose from for future movies... pretty much every Batman baddie has been caged up in those walls at one time or another. Killer Croc, Clayface, Joker (yeah, obvious), Two-Face, Riddler, Red Hood, Harley Quinn, Mr. Freeze, Bane, Cat Woman.... the list goes on. The only other character out there with a comparable list of rogues is the Flash.... his villains are cool as fuck. /geekiness Just a few of the Flash Rogues Last edited by Cdn_Brdr; Jun 16, 05 at 09:41 AM. |

I went to see it tonight. I thought it was well done, it definetly had the best story out of all of them. Christian Bale did an awesome job. I think christian Bale was the best Bruce Wayne, but Micheal Keaton was the best Batman, if that makes sense.

Christ if they were even half worried about continuity in any way they wouldn't have even written the movie that way. About the only thing in that movie that was truly adapted from the comics is that Batman is good and Scarecrow is bad! They basically made this a one-off story and can pretty much take it in any direction they want :) |

just went to see this today with my dad for father's day.
i thought it was a good movie overall. i love the gritty darkness of it and the whole psychology of batman beginning to take form. it was all very interesting. the only problems i had with it were one that was already mentioned: the fact that the action and fighting scenes were cut extremely quickly and used lots of blurred close-up shots so you could never really tell what was going on. this works a little bit, but when the fighting goes on for a long time it would be nice to actually see something more than a blurred cape and a blurred hand and a blurred foot. for all i know they could just be moving really fast and not even fighting. also...cillian murphy is a good actor. he did a good job. but how is it believable that someone THAT young could have as high a position in a mental institution as he did. i think they should have had someone older play his part for more realism. love michael caine as alfred. good casting. those were some crazy hallucinagens. |

^That's not how it was in the comics.... besides if you were that much of a stickler you would have hated this movie. It barely had any direct comic adaptation... Katie Holmes' character was made up for the movie.
In the comics Bruce Wayne's parents were killed by a thug named Joe Chill who was hired by Lew Moxon because Bruce's father was testifying against him. |

Total sense of realism, Batman can be hurt!
The think the detail of how he becomes Batman, gives viewers a better understanding of the character Bruce Wayne. I especially like the music composed for the film. The integration of the music into the movie itself, breathes life into the film. |
