In Her Shoes
I think it's sad this movie is probably just being labelled as "some chick flick." It has so much more substance than another Legally Blonde sequel, or some other romantic comedy about an imperfect girl and a seemingly perfect guy.
It's directed by the same guy (Curtis Hanson) who did "L.A. Confidential," "8 Mile," and "Wonder Boys." And the same quality shown in these three movies is obvious here as well.
There was a perfect balance between the drama and light-heartedness in the movie. Almost as if Hanson didn't want to fall too much on either side of the spectrum. He keeps it in the middle with perfect pitch. And every scene seems important. I didn't want to pee (but I had to) and I missed one big scene involving a knife.
Anyway, I thought it was great. Solid performances, witty script, great editing and cinematography.
