Crash
This movie was the worst movie in the entire world:094: I got so angry half way through it that I had to turn it off. I must admit that I was warned before hand by someone who knows me very well that I wouldn't like it.. but I gave it a chance anyways and what'd ya know? not even 1/2hr into the movie I had to turn it off.
*sigh* I don't understand.....:271: |

I really enjoyed it but it was one of thsoe love/hate things. The movie was done well but it just left you with a sick feeling in your stomach... anyone get what I mean?
About the only thing I didn't like was that a few of the situations seemed forced as opposed to something that would have actually happened. The cast was HUGE in this flick too, so many top notch actors. |

This movie borrowed way too many ideas from other movies. The drugged out mom, I would say its from Requiem for a Dream. The persian conflict is from House of Sand and Fog. The latino story is from just about any latino movie. The gangsta part, well you guessed it.
I thought it was ok but its too much of the same. If you have seen some of the movies I mentioned then you know its just a bunch of short stories throw into a film. It works but I would never watch it again. Thumbs up to the sex scene on this one though, that chick is smoking:) Quote:

I personally thought Crash was deffinately one of the best movies made this year. A great script, with great casting, backed up with amazing directing. 9/10. I disagree that this movie "borrowed" too much from other movies, since it had nothing to do with "drugged out mom" or "persian conflicts". you can over-analyze the movie as much as you can, but i think that there was an obvious backbone concept, and that's racism. It was original specifically because no movie before (that i know of) has shown racist conflicts like crash did. It was kind of 'in yo face', and that's what did it for me. cause this issue is 'in our faces'. just awesome. |

i agree that the movie made me extremely angry and i almost wanted to turn it off as well... BUT that is what made it effective. you get sooo frustrated with the characters that you realize that racism is plain STUPID. there is no logic, no purpose to it and the movie shows this VERY well. however, I didn't really like the fact that 99% of the movie was shouting, but I suppose that had to have been done. all in all, i would recommend it, but I won't watch it again...

Movies can't all be about sunshines and rainbows.
I liked that the movie made you sick. The movie begs for a reaction and it succeeds. There were so many powerful scenes. But you HAVE to watch the movie as a whole to see the whole point. It's not all about the "bad" things the characters do. Watch it to the ending and you'll realize it's essentially about hope. Plus I think the movie seemed to borrow from other movies because the situations are real. The conflicts might have been elevated for the sake of it being a movie, but there's still a degree of realism. This is a crappy mini-review but I don't wanna talk about it. I've talked it up to everyone, and I bought it as soon as it came out lol. I loved it. Racism isn't something overtly discussed today, and this movie seems to play up on the fact that a lot of people are uncomfortable with this issue. Everyone loves to think that they're perfectly open minded and not the least bit prejudiced. Truth is, we've all got a tendency. |
