A.i.
Right off the bat I didn't know much about this movie other than the fact that it had something to do with a robot boy. Nuff said, I popped it into the dvd player and checked it out. I'm not much of a puffer but last night I kissed the bong. Not once, but twice. This made the first part of the movie rather hard to take serious when I noticed the dubbing was way off. There's nothing like watching a serious part in a movie and having the lip sync look terrible. I almost did a triple-eject but I continued on.... hoping it would fix itself. It didn't. I just started to stare at other things on the screen and avoided looking at the mouth speech altogether.
The movie itself takes place in the near future sometime after the ice caps melt away and bury most coastal cities. Manhattan becomes the edge of the world and all other cities are buried hundreds of metres below water. Humans are still the dominant creatures but robots have become very popular in the escort and service industry. The movie centres on a family's loss of a child. David (the first boy robot) is sent to the family to substitute for their lost son. I won't spoil it for those who haven't seen it but I will rate it: -Good special effects -Slow moving story line (seemed like a 3-4 hour movie) -Creepy Kid -Bad dubbing (dvd) -Tear jerker for all the soft hearts -So futuristic it's somewhat hard to grasp at times -Nice appearance from the guy who played Vasilli Zaitsev -Hilarious little bear "Teddy" stars as David’s sidekick -Ending wasn't a Hollywood finish -Who cares about a blue fairy? I watched this with 4 people and during it 1 person fell asleep, another almost left because it was getting late and 2 of us remained attentive. It's a movie you should watch sober otherwise that little kid will creep u out.
