Figure skating is also the most watched sport of the Olympics, which is why it is aired first and so much, I believe. If you follow the olympics closely, that and gymnastics are always the first competitions for both the winter and summer.

Ya Gymnastics are pretty cool too. Cause there are so many different variations in Gymnastics whereas Figure Skating is limited in you sure as hell ain't going to be triple salchowing over a beam haha.

but both of these sports require alot of times, bruises/injuries.

Most people prob don't even think figure skaters workout do you?

I don´t think it is true figure skating is the most watched sport of the Olympics... The stadium wasn´t that crowded for the past days in the single and double figure skating competitions from what I have seen.
And even if the downhill ski race and the snowboard half pipe men finals were also taking place in the first days, I think they leave the most watched competitions to the last days...

And I kinda like figure skating, it takes lots of skill and practise and it is not a pussy sport even if for some of you it might look like it.

yea...it's a very calculated yet energetic sport.

Honestly, if you find baseball exciting (which I don't) you should find curling mindblowing.

3 posts down, i decided not to bother posting something like this.... cause I'm sure it would be met with garbage...

I'm proud of all the athletes. I've followed all the events so far... good times.

Figure skating is by far the most popular event in the winter olympics, ratings have shown that.
This year the ratings will definately go down especially now that Michelle Kwan has left.
On the Men's side the only person I can think of is mr. Buttle who choked and yegeni plushenko who dominated the sport now.
This year, the names aren't there....

Ya there isn't a whole host of names in figure skating this year.

Evengeni Plushenko does look to be the favorite in the mens though.

World Baseball Classic in March.

though just like the olympics alot of professional M.L.B players are not going.

but teams like the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico and the States all have solid teams.

Some people already share my opinion on this but I just wanted to add a few things.

I find that I can't ever really hate a sport. Sure, I can hate playing it or watching it on TV, but to actually hate the sport itself is impossible for me.

There's always something about a sport that makes it so that not everyone can excel in it.

Just like life, no one can be good at everything, but everyone can be good at something.

Plus, imagine all the hard work, dedication and passion these athletes gave for their respective sports. It's practically a religion to them. Saying that this sport is too homo or feminine and worthless and hockey is the opposite is like trampling on all their hard work and achievements. I'm pretty sure even the hockey players know how hard it is to figure skate and have respect.

And fyi, I like watching figure skating AND hockey :)

yeah buddy...that looked so painful. that must have took alot of will power, courage and strengh to get up and do what she did.

and not to put down hocky (I like hockey) but wouldnt the sports channels get a little boring or repetative if all that was on was hockey all the time?

Your right Erwin. Proof. Bret Hedican *profession NHL hockey player* is married to Kristina Yamaguchi of the united states.

Both professionals in their own sports but married through a mutual respect for each other in all forms including the sport they excel at.

P.S: anyone watch the luge and skeleton.

Yes the event is called Skeleton. Its just like the luge cept you go Head first instead of feet first.

and instead of laying on your back on the board, you lay on your stomach and fly head first down a track of ice up to 120 Kph

That takes guts. Yes all events take alot of guts, but the skeleton takes hella guts even for olympic athletes.
