She's The Man
Yes, yes, yes, I know it's an effin teeny bopper movie. But two words: Channing Tatum. Plus, the trailer actually made it look pretty funny.
All teenyboppering aside, the movie works. It's laugh-out-loud funny, it's silly, it's impossible, but it works for the movie. I know people will compare it to Mean Girls, and I have to say Mean Girls was fairly smart and witty, whereas this movie just makes it because of the humour in it. How can a movie with David Cross not be funny?
I was actually impressed with Channing Tatum as well. He seemed to do comedy pretty well. I'm biased though. I don't think he could do anything that I wouldn't like.
And it was also interesting to see all the Vancouver-sightings since this movie was filmed here. Coincidentally, we ended up sitting right by the soccer player extras in the movie. Which made it more entertaining. And kinda sad for them.
Yes, I do like the movie on a superficial level (even this review is superficial), but is there any other way to like this movie? It definitely won't win any Oscars. Or any awards for that matter. Maybe for those shallow Teen Choice awards.
If you like silly, stupid teen movies (this one more sappy than Mean Girls), you'll really enjoy this. Otherwise move right along. And no, you won't miss anything if you saw this on DVD. But Channing on the big screen <3<3<3
