The Colbert Report takes some time to get into. You have to take everything he says with a grain of salt. He's so full of base satire, it's often hard to tell whether he's being serious or not. His interview strategy usually just makes otherwise informative guests backpeddle in his shit, so they often blow ass. The first 10 minutes, though, (especially The Word) are fucking great once you get them.
C'mon, though, The Daily Show wasn't that great for a long time, until Craig Kilborn left. Give Stephen some time and the benefit of the doubt. Then lynch his ass, if you want to. It's a free country. Last edited by Mangle; Apr 20, 06 at 05:49 PM. |

In any case, The Daily Show is still the reigning king of Comedy Central. |

to topic: personally i love the colbert report, his over the top sarcastic dead pan delivery is one of my faves. colbert was my favourite correspondent. his over patriotic, christianism is part of the schtick. it's a play on all those 'pundits' that are dime a dozen. if i could only watch one though i'd pick daily show. just because of the additional segments with different reporters that the repore lacks. |

yes, colbert is being sarcastic.
originally it bounced well off of stewart when colbert was on the daily show... a good antithesis to stewart's leftism, as ironic as it was being. can it anchor its own show? kinda sorta. but then again, stewart isn't always 100%. btw, it took me about 3 months of watching the colbert report before i figured out why he always left the t in report silent..... |

Anybody seen this yet?
2006 White House Correspondents Dinner with Stephen Colbert and Pres. Bush Colbert is officially the man. He starts off a speech four feet away from Bush's face by saying please shoot me in the face. He goes on to say that they aren't rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic; the Bush administration is soaring, so if anything they are rearranging chairs on the Hindenburg. That guy has gigantic balls. Last edited by Mangle; Apr 30, 06 at 10:22 AM. |
