I wouldn't doubt it if Romero's stories DID indeed contain sociological messages. A surprisingly lot of movies from that time had politcal views laced into the liner notes.
This movie was horrible. . but I'm not surprised in the slightest. Romero's work (save for Dawn of the Dead) should never have been recreated or expanded upon. The real beauty behind his films were the fact that they didn't have special effects like we do today, yet he still managed to make the most realistically gorey and stomach-lurching films with physical effects and props. Adding CG takes away from the films, in my opinion. |

I've tried to recreate that gore for my slasher film, and just couldn't do it, even with today's material. The guy was brilliant |

i'm still of two thoughts on the end of "land of the dead".
one-i hated it because the 'hero' decided to let the 'smart' zombie live. "no, he's just looking for a place to go...like us." they should've killed him when they had the chance. two-it was the end of the movie. so, for that, i liked the ending. |

The zombie was the Hero.
wow. Thats lame. yep.. this movie was sort of lame.. side from the coooool non CGgore Lucio fulci is the godfather of gore. David Gun Is fast catching up (yay slither) and Gorge lost some GoreWhore points by using CG in his new movie. |

There are alot of hidden messages in the Dead series. Past and Present.
The old Dead series was amazing for its time back then. I own them all. The new ones arent all the bad I find. But I like zombie movies for some odd reason. Maybe I just have no taste. But I think theres a few more messages then race involved if you really watch the movies. The one that I keep looking at is even in a time of crises, we still manage to seperate ourselves into classes and discriminate against eachother. In a time where we could be whiped out completely, you would like to think that we as human beings could bind togeather to do something great. But instead, we still do whatever we can to step over the un-fortunate! The only ones who did come togeather were the fucking zombies!!! |

Every time I'm sick, I watch the original trilogy.
I thought the Dawn Of The Dead remake was bad until I saw Land Of The Dead. Land was absolutely miserable with few redeeming factors. Now Dawn Of The Dead seems less pathetic, 'cause at least it was somewhat tense while I couldn't stop laughing during Land. The only good part of Land was Simon Pegg & Edgar Wright's cameo. talking zombies = retarded zombie baby = retarded But zombie baby wasn't the star of its movie, and at least they had the balls to kill everyone. The original movies (mostly the first two) kick ass over every other zombie movie ever made, counting Shaun Of The Dead as a rom-com-zom natch. Last edited by Mangle; May 30, 06 at 10:44 PM. |
