Are/Were you a resident DJ, if so where?

What originally hooked you into the DJing scene?

Drum n Bass got me hooked, Outdoor party scene kept me

What type of music do you specialise in?

My favorite to play is Drum n Bass and House. I can let my creative juices run wild with Drum n Bass because I like to put down 30 records or so in an hour (25 at least).

Most expensive vinyl that you have paid for? - how much was it?

A real DJ pounds the pavement and looks for deals... If you wanna know it was a Bad Company LP which was i think 28 bucks at the time, but considering inflation its more expensive than some of the reggae LP's that i'm payin 30 something bucks for now.

What is your most treasured record and why?

The "rock the funky beats" jungle remix i have one of the original prints. And this green record that i bought for mad cheap at Amoeba in Hollywood that i have never heard anybody play... ever, never even seen anybody else have it.

Have you got any funny/horrific DJing stories?

I was at a New Years Eve Moontribe party and I brought my records, but didnt have a slot to play. I figured I wouldnt get a spot like that so I took a pill and low and behold I am on the turntables. It was a psy trance crowd to boot! I had no psy trance records!!! I borrowed my friends records and started throwing random records down. After putting the A-train through the desert on the first mix. I rocked the house (or ummm desert) every single mix afterwards. Seems like a dream (cuz i was mad f'ed up), but I got rave reviews. Too bad the outdoor rave crowd in LA has no pull in the club scene or I'd be hella popular right now.

What do you like the most about DJing?

My babies (records), watching people enjoy my work and last but not least the fundamental love of all music.

What does your DJ name signify?

A friend of mine hated my DJ style because he was a more strict techno-style DJ and I had a lot of hip hop style to my mixes (fast and clean with cuts and scratches). A little unconventional and rather than call it doggy style, my name was phroggystyle. I shortened it because promoters were getting mad cuz I was taking up too much flier space (no joke, i actually got a lot of crap about it)

Who are your influences /or shoutouts?

N2O entertainment for making me love mashup DnB, DJ R.A.W my influence and best DnB DJ on the planet! IMO anyways. Richie Hawtin, nuff said about him, and DJ z-trip. If it wasnt for him I would have never started off with dub reggae before laying some house mixed with techno, mixed with hip hop, mixed into Jungle set and not getting booted off the turntables. (though the techno enthusiasts didnt appreciate it much to say the least)

Feel free to add any additonal information about yourself

Straight up I dont care about money, fame, sex, drugs or rock and roll. I just like to play. I always dance to every DJ that plays if i am mixing the same night (even if we dont get along). I started off all about the vibe and that's the way i'll die. If I never get big all the better, id rather keep it that way. Playing outdoors or for a party (house or rave) ill always do it free. All i ask is to smoke some herb on the house. Peace.
