Watching DJ Optimus (excellent D&B DJ from Vancouver Island) rock a really wicked dnb set and seeing the crowd react so strongly to what he was playing really made me want to get behind the decks myself. He eventually took me under his wing and made me the DJ I am today. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - What type of music do you specialise in? Dubstep, but I will play almost anything. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Most expensive vinyl that you have paid for? - how much was it? hmmm.... can't think of it at the moment, I have a lot of old collectable vinyl so most likely an old Jazz EP. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Have you got any funny/horrific DJing stories? I was playing an outdoor party on Vancouver Island and someone came up to the decks to hand me a drink. As they reached over the decks they bumped the weighted end of the tone-arm and knocked it straight into the air and it landed perfectly timed back in the record. The most amazing part of this was that the mix was live (both tracks playing). I have never been so amazed in my life, it went from catastrophe to miracle in seconds. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - What do you like the most about DJing? Watching the crowd eat up what you're playing. A good crowd makes for a great set. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Who are your influences /or shoutouts? I try to take inspiration from anything & everything around me. Shouts to the Pacific Dubstep & the Vancouver Island crew. Big up the Shah Dj's and Lighta! in Vancouver, always pushing the sound. |
