Intellijel (Rivers Of Recordings)

Intellijel aka Danjel van Tijn was born and raised in the suburbs of Toronto Canada. The eclectic and multicultural environment exposed him to virtually all prevalent music subcultures from early days of hip-hop and house to shoegazer and dub reggae.

Passion for sound design, texture and instrumentation was also coupled with an inseparable desire to experiment with the creation of unique electronic music devices and software. Demo tapes from these early years experiments started to circulate in the mid nineties.

A year abroad in Northern Europe cemented Danjel's love for techno: the perfect balance of artistic expression and with machines. In 1998 turntable were bought, crude studio assembled and the research continued. After finishing his degree in Electrical engineering he went on to professionally design electronic music devices at companies like IVL/Electrix but soon was disillusioned by corporations and distracted by the overwhelming passion to keep making music.

A move to Vancouver, some audio school, and a change in priorities left Danjel working for a Co-operative radio station, teaching electronics/audio to kids, building robots. Many more live shows, collaborations, installations and music productions ensued.

The AOB djs are in San francisco for the Panambient Bento so Danjel is filling in with only the finest techno and other goodness.
