Culminating in the mind of one unusually gifted 17 year old, is the idea of a new pop music. Veela’s unique take on electropop features infectious hooks, potent dance rhythms and alluring lyrics to stunning effect. Driven and focused, she has written,produced and performed every beat, synth, key and vocal of every song herself. Now gearing up to release her debut EP in the Summer of 2010- Prelude – Veela is ready to make waves in the music world. Independent and visionary, young Veela learned piano from when she was seven to ten years old but became bored with the structure of lessons. A couple years later when she was twelve, she would hear a song on the radio and discover she had a knack for playing music by ear. Her musical world then escalated her to writing her own songs at age thirteen. Slow and ethereal ballads, sometimes sung in French, were her first creations. By the time she had grown to sixteen, so had her passion for live performance. It was then that an intense and spirited purple haired starlet first took stage to bring beats to the masses. Veela’s original tracks take inspiration from Europop, dance, pop, hip hop, rock and even performance art. Artists like Daft Punk, DJ Antoine, Bass Hunter, Black Eyed Peas , Lady Gaga and Cirque De Soleil have all had an influence. Still she pursues a melody and beat all her own, instantly catchy and resonant with audiences. Veela’s musical vision extends past the confines of a- typical ambition. Equal to her passion for making music is creating an experience where people can express themselves freely and without prejudice. While speaking to her she purveys she wants as many people as possible to share in the excitement and creation of something beautiful. A bold and ambitious vision for sure, but that’s Veela.
