Y'know, I was kind of torn on this mix. Some of it's quite good. However, some of it sounds kind of ass. Hnn... I guess my only real gripes are cheesy techno rmx of any other style of music. If the DJ can mash a grunge song with a techno song, its good though. That's some real skill. But just adding a 909 kick to a grunge song and adding a few effects to make it a rmx, that's just weak, really. Looking at the tracklist, it appears the latter was the case.
Some of the breaks towards the end were fine (Busta stands out) but the garage kind of dragged on a couple tracks too long for my tastes. |

Yeah, I can see where your coming from with the remix thing, I've said the same thing in the past, (I think it was about the Beastie Boys remix that School of Thought did not too long ago) and perhaps the Nirvana remix is a little simple (though well done in my opinion) but I don't really feel it's fair to paint the entire mix with that brush. Sorry to hear you didn't like it. Thank you for taking the time to listen and post your feedback.

Some parts are good, don't get me wrong. But were I to be hearing this at a club, some parts (specifically the tepid rmx's of classic tunes and too many garage tracks in a row) would have probably caused me to leave the dancefloor in a bit of a huff, eagerly seeking out the bars for another redbull/vodka. ;) This just boils down to my own tastes, really. Certain things just tend to irk me when I've got a good gurn going. Over zealous breakdowns is another such criminal (thankfully, none of which seemed to be present in this mix, so thumbs up there!). |
