So I took a listen...
...And found myself split on how it sounds, really. On one hand, aside from a couple of tracks near the end, there is not much to groove to on this, so I have to assume this is a chillin' mix. On this hand, then, there are some decent enough tunes, even some that grabbed my attention in the middle, but other tracks are of muzak quality as well. Granted, prog has a tendency to slip into muzak territory all too often. Sounds nice, but too many of the tracks are easily forgettable unfortunately. |

Decent for the most part. The tracks blend nicely together; albiet perhaps too well, making some segments too similar between tracks. I think this is what makes it slip into that dreaded muzak territory, IMO. Not enough distinguishment between some tracks can lead to redundency. There's an odd one a little over halfway through. I'm sure you know the one I'm talking about. It's quite apparent; almost like a quick crossfade. |

Thanks again, I tried to pick the tracks that would go well together I thought it was one of the main things in mixing?
Like I said it's entirely done on the computer, taking advantage of the technology and giving me a perfect opportunity to include tracks way ahead of their release. This isn't a representation of me as a "DJ" just an example of what the computer could do... Inspired by countless hours of listening to James Holden, Ozgur Can and Markus Schulz sets. |

Tracks that go well together and tracks that sound similar are two entirely different things that many DJs (bedroom and professional) tend to forget.
The latter is fine and dandy for a few tracks in a row but if too many are played, they start to sound far too similar to the last and the listener will not notice any distinction between them anymore, causing for bored ears in many cases. However, it is still possible to mix conflicting styles and make a set sound good because if these different styles play off of each other in some way (say, a yin/yang contrast, for example), not only does the mixing sound fresh, but it adds variety to a set, a tasty spice for any well-seasoned DJ mix. |

I know that Prism put together with a PC and not vinyl so I left the mixing issues alone if there were any.
I like the souind that he put together in this set and I can't have partied to this type of sound and it is fun at time, at others it is the sound I like to chill down to. All depends on ones ear and how they interpret it I guess. Keep up the good work man and I think it is a great set. |
