Pacific Rim Recordings: Labels/Producers!

My name is Sean Gallagher and I am the owner of Pacific Rim Recordings, a new record label based out of Vancouver, Canada.

Pacific Rim Recordings is currently about ¾ of the way to having an online mp3 store/label up and running. Pacificrimrecordings.com is a site with Beatport’s functionality and EDMdigital’s simple and easy to navigate layout. PRR will be sexy, functional, fast and will offer many features that no site currently offers. These features will make the song buying process so much easier and give your songs more global exposure then you could get with the other mp3 stores that are available! Furthermore, the owner and workers at PRR are will connected after spending many years as DJs and producers. We not only have contacts in the music industry, but the movie and game industries as well, which could present many licensing opportunities for your songs.

PRR is now beginning to search for more content. So far we have a number of reputable labels and independent producers already signed up, but we are looking for more quality songs!

We are looking to offer all types of different genres. House, Progressive House, Funky House, Latin House, Deep House, Downtempo, Acid Jazz and other jazzy sounding genres, Tribal, Breaks, Speed Garage, Prog Trance, and Trance.

Digital is the way of the future. There will always be a place in the industry for vinyl. PRR is not trying to phase out vinyl but we do realize that now the majority of DJs are using CDs as their medium of choice (weather it be along with vinyl or by itself). According to a study found in a recent IDJ Magazine, over 50% of DJs are now using MP3s/CDs and this number will continue to grow.
The current problem for a lot of labels is that once a record is pressed and sold off, the labels won’t make any money off of those songs. DJs hate that once a song is done pressing it is impossible to find. Labels could be selling their mp3s to help fund the pressing of more vinyl tracks.

PRR will give labels an opportunity to make good money off of their back catalogue and make those awesome hard to find songs available for DJs. We will offer producers and labels more money than any other site will offer you because this site is setup to make the producers and labels money, not us. Furthermore, the global exposure that PRR will give your label and new releases will be unmatched by any site available right now.

The beauty of this for both independent producers and labels is that you don’t have to pay anything to get their songs up. There is no cost. They just send their songs into PRR and if we like what we hear we will sign the track and you make money as the track sells.
Even if you don’t produce you can still make some pocket change by helping PRR recruit songs. PRR will pay you a ‘finders fee’, which will be disclosed personally, for every unreleased song that a recruiter finds that is good enough to put up on the site.
The site is currently under construction and will be up and running soon!
