and then take the mix on from scratch once I'm happy with the structure.

When you say this, you mean bounce everything down to an audio track and make a new project, correct? I had one of my songs mastered professionally a few months ago and the engineer told me to bounce everything down with just a tiny bit of headroom (attenuating a big source signal is better than boosting a small signal i suppose). He was able to put it all back together and made it sound amazing. I attempted this same strategy on my own with a song a while back and I completely butchered it.. i just couldnt get it to sound right. Its amazing how changing a few db's can completely fuck up your tune. From that point on i decided to take the Mix-as-you-go strategy. I'd really like to have you help me run trhough the mixdown process so i can learn how to do it properly. We should set somethin up.

Yea I have a lot of reverb on it.. I'll try drying it up a bit. that might make it sound tighter, youre right.
The next tune is going to be BIG! I just started it last night. it'll easily be my best one to date.
