Ultra Hard Carpark!
http://www.soundclick.com/ultrahardcarpark
Audio Architect describes Carpark as thus: If somebody else had invented Carpark I'm sure I would hate on it. It is quite possibly the most base thing I have ever put my name on. It stoops far below the lowest common denominator. Carpark plays the nostalgia button like a pre-teen playing 'Street Fighter', or like a Rhesus monkey vying for crack. Now Rhesus monkeys won't smoke tobacco or marijuana, but 100% will smoke cocaine, preferring it to sex and food - even when starving. One monkey pressed a bar 12,800 times to obtain a single dose of cocaine. This is the kind of affect Carpark can have on a person, and with unlimited access they will self-administer until they die. As for the musical style itself. The samples are rough and ready, backed up with simple breaks, and dressed with ripping analogue synth lines. The low-fi and unpolished sounds of carpark make it accessable to the working class, and undesireable to the stuck up industry whores, and the bourgeois glitzarati. yer just bummed cause you didn't think of it first.... *sips gasoline and laughs* I didn't force anything on anyone, it s not like i tied you up and MADE You listen...and there is something DIFFERENT about this house...it uses a specific FORMULA....i don;t need to defend carpark anywho.... cause its YOU who misses out on all the fun of what PA should be about.] in my minds eye.. Matt and i are having fun with this genre and ppl here dig it....go play a twisted party and force your music on some 16 year olds as per usual. Last edited by djsuplex; Jan 29, 06 at 10:25 AM. |

all i'm saying mate, is make the music you like, but trying to forcably name it it's own genre is just coming across as trying to be too 1337 (which is what i expect from most people who do PA)
and it will only make your life harder trying to be the "pioneers of CARPARK" instead of just being CARPARK would be far better to just be yourself, do your thing, and let other people decide whether it's worth being its own 'genre' (But i do admit, it's a hell of a lot better than most live PA i've heard, i just don't particularly like it myself) Last edited by dabbler; Jan 29, 06 at 03:15 PM. |

Again carpark is what it is...FUN...ppl dress to drive for our shows and it is fun to do new themes. Something that vancouver music is missing> anyone else besides yourself sick of funky and prog house at clubs yet down there?
ps: i like your productions. i think they are good for dnb which i usually dislike. Beat is too repetitive usually and i dont like abrasive abrasive synth lines...your stuff is chilly vibey but dancey... here's what i have been doing in ableton latey... (not carpark...normal breaks n prog house) http://www.soundclick.com/pasuplex pps: the name carpark as a band is taken....its way funner as a theme/subgenre anyways.... i think it came about when we were joking how some english blokes say: " Do you have any of that UltrA FAST Carpark?" Meaning speed garage. Last edited by suplex; Jan 31, 06 at 11:07 AM. |
