"Doomtones" . . . my first attempt at drum n bass
Hot off the press.
It's lacking, but I'll get the hang of it. Took me about an hour. I also need to grasp the finer details of mastering. Tell me what you think. Advice, criticism, praise. . . anything works for me. http://www.yousendit.com/transfer.ph...2BE71E484ACEF3 edit: after drinking some water.. sobering up a bit, I've decided the bassline sucks, and I shouldn't have looped it. Gotta start somewhere though, right? Last edited by tiedye; Jul 13, 06 at 08:11 AM. |

just keep practicin, everytime you'll learn new tricks.
if you are gunna do a DnB track, I'd recommend using one of the standard drum loops you always hear then add some compression and maybe layer some hats and what not to make it your own ...... then after that , it's pretty hard to make somethin that sounds bad. Im not a fan of stealin loops but in dnb it works. get a midi controller too usin cubase or what ? |

I'm still working with Cubase, but I actually did that in Fruity Loops. I like the user-friendly interface for getting the hang of producing. Once I actually start to get used to Cubase, I'll start using that. Otherwise anything I make will be limited by what I know of the program. As for the drum loops.. I feel good producers shouldn't sample loops.. they should at least make their own. I'm going to try to get in the hang of just sequencing my drumlines throughout the whole song. So it's not repetative.. so it compliments the bassline more, and the buildups will be much more effective. |

you just mess around with it until it is your own. not saying I use loops, just throwing that out there.. fruity is not bad at all, download as many packs as you can for it .. but the drums in it sorta suck, Id recommend findin a pack or snippin out a snare or w/e from a song that sounds good |
