Where was the white laser??

They should of advertised "we are importing an invisible white laser from germany" instead lol

Overall I give this party 6.5/10

There was no white laser. Only two reasons for this could be believable. Either they found out it was going to cost too much to import it, so they scrapped the plan. Or they dint set up the importing of the laser with enough planning.. and the thing fell through. I was told by guy poulin that "the laser didnt get through customs" which is complete bs, if they arranged to have this laser brought in for an event with customs canada before hand, the laser would definatly make it through on time and to plan. So im thinking solid just fucked up bad.

But other then the no white laser, it wasnt actually all that bad. But i spent the least amount of time on main floor then ever. I actually spent a few solid hours at stage 3 vibing to mychal ferreira. A little bit to john askew, sometime in the breaks room to some random beats, and a while to scott project, who at least played a decent set in comparison to his last show here, which was terrible. But i left at 5 being a working person :P

Anyways all and all, better then last NYE but the mainstage was seriously short of major talent. Im thinking its about time jimmy chou gets moved to stage 3, so we dont have an hour of soft trance ruining the vibe on a high energy night

Yeah man, its pretty obvious it was false advertising lol I'm sure an experienced company like them (throwing concert-liked events for years) will make it hard for people to believe that they actually didn't know how to successfully import a laser, lol.

I would believe the customs story if they were importing a rap artists lol

Anyways Phil York played the best set of the night in my point of view

My previous job was a logistics cordinator for a Russian sawmill. Anyway getting to the point, customs holding up something is very possible. I am not saying this is what happened, however, I have had customs hold shit for no fucking reason. They are trained to 'just say no' if there is any doubt about something coming into the country. I have been asked for the strangest permits on the most normal everyday items. When I sent a bolt to russia, regular home depot fare, I would be expected to produce a safety certificate... I mean really, wtf is that.

So perhaps with the class of the laser they needed some sort of documentation. But that doesn't take away from the fact that if it really was stuck at customs in the end it WAS still soilds fault for poor planning.

In contrast to everyone else, I was on the main stage the whole time and I thought it kicked ass. all the djs were doing mad drops.

and unlike Twisted Xmas, enough people stuck around for Victor H to make the end worthwhile.

See you all next rave

other than my camera being jacked, I actually had alot of fun...
room 2 was pretty solid and Project. One rocked out some crazy beats on stage 4 always a good time when that guys spinnin put him on a better stage already...

having those big bathrooms at the front closed kinda sucked major ass
and other than stage 2 it was freezing cold in that place

the highlight of the night for me had to be when some chick got SO messed up, she threw her stuff down on the ground and for some reason started running laps around the stage 4 area... hahahaha she was givin'er too! so after a while I snuck up behind her and ran laps with her, when she noticed I was there she scared the shit outta herself... even screamed! aaahaha then I told her to keep going and she did for a long while lol

all in all the music was alright, a few DJs had some wicked sets other than that... meh
had a great time, stayed till closing it was good seeing everyone there :)

haha, thats f'd up. it would've made it good on youtube.

anyways, i think I saw you on that stage when i dropped by. the music was hardcore but it doesn't work when there's only 5-10 people dancing.

Did anyone else find it weird that there was this girl that really looked like she could be 12 being piggy backed around by another girl around the same age or a few years older all night? I must have seen them at least 10 times and they were always piggy backing.

On the main stage side dance platforms I saw some girls dancing together and one of them ripped the pants off the other, lol....

But all in all I thought it was a decent rave. John Askew didn't really get me going. Scot project had some moments that really made me want to dance hard. His set as a whole was good but not great imo. Same goes for Phil York.

The decor was pretty cool, but a little bright without sunglasses. And the breaks room was pretty consistantly fair all night.

White laser minimum $10,000 dollar to rent on NYE.
Cost to air-ship it with insurance probably $5000
Customs declaration papers and permit for lasers $750
Operation on NYE $2000

I doubt anyone in their right of mind would spend around 20G just on a laser, when on NYE the cost of everything doubles if not tripples, yet ticket prices stay pretty much the same as they do all year long.

That's just my 2 cents, but false advertising is not cool.

PS: We had a white light laser at Pink 2007 in europe, and it was a pretty sight :D

hmm...this event was typical in every way, shape, & form: none of the greasy garbage that i saw or any of my experiences there that night were unfamiliar or new to me, and none even seemed to phase me the least bit. *shrugs shoulders*

same. i was @ the main stage for only a few hr.s (part of jimmy chou, shy brothers, & part of john askew) & was @ the locals area near the coat check for 4 hours (lol!) & the mini stuffed-up house room for about an hr.. (i don't much care for hard trance.) hmm...which one were you? that local was SO drunk though; eh? hmm...were you the one, who kept looking really dissapointed & frusterated? if so, i don't blame you, 'cause his beatmatching was...non-existant; ahhh. poor guy. :P oh my gosh... tazix was LIQUORED too. ahaha. it was too cute, though! but that wayne guy was SOLID! (he kept dropping tracks that i haven't heard in YR.S! i heard a few Iio tracks that completely reminded me of high school. lol.) hmm...i heard both daft punk - harder, better, faster, stronger (deadmau5 remix) & bob sinclair - world hold on (axwell remix) a handful of times (lol!) that night as well. & of course, once again, the shy brothers, (...1 of 'em,) dropped remo-con - cold front (bart claessen remix). god damn it...i FUCKING ADORE that track!

anyway. the 2.5 months 'til the next event @ the colliseum is gunna fly right on by. just you watch...

p.s.: hmm...i didn't even know there was gunna be a white laser. *must read flyers more carefully*
p.p.s.: you guys consider jimmy chou to be soft trance?! god damn! how mainstream do i like my trance, then?! ahaha!

Solid NYE Review

I thought the main room was awesome :) I liked the set up a lot even if there wasn't a white laser... False advertising isn't cool but i wasn't really going for a white laser anyways! I think all the headliners brought it for this event!
Jimmy played a great set, One of the better sets I have heard him play!:)
shy bro's played an ok set.. I usually like their sets a lot but this time was meh..
John Askew started out alright but after about half an hour in he started playing some really Good choons =)
Scot project played the best set I've heard from him out of the 3 times I've seen him!
Phil York Played a great hard set =D I had been looking forward to seeing him for a long time so thanks for bringing him Solid! =D
All in all it was a fun time
