They use a lot of fillers - their lotion isn't the highest quality, especially the lower "steps". Also, the whole step program is a load of shit - companies only offer these "step 1, 2, 3" lotions so you'll feel inclined to buy different lotions depending on how dark you are. Designer Skin lotions are by far the best - no matter what colour you start off at you can feel comfortable using any of them, and their self tanners won't turn you a gross orange! The only lotions I'd reserve for more advanced tanners are tingle lotions because paler, more sensitive skin can tend to have negative reactions to them. Designer Skin also has a wicked new line of "warming" lotions that don't even tingle but create the same dark tanning effect!
