Jean help for a short girl
Hiya,
I'm looking for manufactuers of quality jeans that come in shorter lengths. I'm about 5'2 and usually am a 30-31 in length. Unfortunately, most premium denim manufacturers make jeans in lengths like 34-36. Yes, you can hem them, which can risk losing the flare, making a faded knee look like a faded shin, or turn skinny jeans into bootcuts. What I'm really looking for is a nice pair of skinny jeans that will be the appropriate length for me that I don't have to hem. Any ideas? |

I want to try to find something local in Vancouver where I can try them on...any ideas?
I've purchased jeans from Banana Republic in their petites section that are perfect length, but their stock is pretty inconsistent. Galaxie, what does OTW carry? |

You'll be happier finding the perfect pair of jeans with the right color/price/distressing/rhinestones and hemming them. If you limit yourself to precut sizes (half of which will be hemmed from a different length anyways), it will be much harder to find a pair. Realistically the flare on skinnys starts about 15" up (at the knee) and only tapers down an additional inch by the cuff. So chopping 2 to 4 inches won't change the shape. You might have an extra (4/15)" on the cuff to stuff into your boots. That's a quarter inch max!

Myra, you can purchase different lengths online for AE jeans. They carry longer and shorter lengths even when they aren't available in store. I'd suggest trying them on in store and getting the waist size right, then order the same size but a shorter inseam online. they should also be able to give you a free shipping card when you're in the store, since they don't have your length available.

I know I always have the option to hem them, but I've hemmed skinnys before and haven't been too happy with the results. Plus, if you have to hem your new jeans they aren't new jeans until they come back from the tailor and i'm impatient :P ..it would just be nice to find a pair of skinnys that I looove that I can have right there! |
