FREE THE POLITICAL PRISONERS OF ATENCO NOW!


This past May 3rd and 4th, the Mexican Government police force in it’s three levels; municipal, state and federal, PRD, PRI and PAN respectively; brutally repressed the settlers of San Salvador Atenco organized in Peoples Front in Defense of the Land and other adherent and supporting organizations to the Sixth Declaration of the Selva Lacandona (released in June of 2006 by the EZLN), and pertaining to the Other Campaign in Mexico.

This assault has as result: over 200 detainees, a 14 year old boy assassinated, around 30 raped, outraged, attacked, tortured, psychologically and sexually humiliated women; hurting their dignity by their condition as women as the public testimonies have demonstrated. This immediately woke up a great rage and indignation at national and international levels against the Mexican government’s police forces and the cynical mass means of communication.

More than 20 days after these facts, we, the individuals and groups of the Other Vancouver Campaign and Organizations in Solidarity with Atenco, are again pronouncing us in solidarity with the people of Atenco and the Other Campaign in Mexico, besides
demanding the Freedom of All the Political Prisoners of 3rd and 4th of May.

This fundraising night has the objective to financially support the juridical defense of Atenco political prisoners and the struggle to release them.

We invite you to watch the films, get informed, dance, have dinner together and show our solidarity with Atenco.
