vdub's can get expensive to fix. Good Luck.

Find a good mechanic, or buy the book and try to do it yourself.

I know too many people that own vdubs, and they hate when things break.. but at least they are consistant with what breaks so you can always learn how to fix things

On old 'dubs the Heat was a big Bitch.

My Friend's '79 Super Bug had no Heat at all... he tore the fucker out when it died and he couldn't find a replacement. lol

The parts are reasonably cheap if you do the work yourself - and contrary to other posts above, I've found the ol' jetta to be the most reliable vehicle I've owned.

Agreed. *Ancient* system - gas powered heater rather than what you find on cars today (heater core using your coolant for heat) --but of course this wasn't possible with the old 'dubs because they were air-cooled.

Anyways, those things aside - why don't you post what the problem is here tiedye, you're more likely to get an answer like that.

from personal experience, some years of golf are actually inexpensive to repair as far as parts are concerned. up to around 89 you should be in the clear so to speak; from 90 to 94ish it climbs a bit, then when you're talking VR6... good luck :P

they have a bad rep but they really just need to be taken care of properly, or everrything that can go wrong will until you have completely rebuilt the damn thing heh.

automatic transmissions on the 1990 golf are a pain in the ars too.

I love the Vee Dubb

so hot.
