Congrats on your hard work paying off . I just wanna touch up on things you might find helpful. China= when you're having a bad day you can go on a shopping spree and buy anything and everything. You can bargain for anything but they will give you high prices because you look foreign.
No partying the night before you leave you will need to be invigorated contact the canadian embassy as soon as you arrive. Get ready for the BAI JIOE (the chinese white wine is rampant) Have a great time.

Watch out, though: Bai Jiu is definitely not "wine" by any standards. It has about 60% alcohol and the taste is pretty specific. It's definitely an experience to have! It's dirt cheap, and all the times that I've consumed it have ended in interesting ways. There is so much stuff to see/do in Beijing - too bad you are only here for a day or so! If you bargain in the touristy areas, plan to pay about 25% of the price they initially tell you. If they don't budge, walk away! There are tons and tons of people selling the same things in the markets. Bargaining in Russian instead of English usually also gets me better deals, haha.
