dave, as long as you have a reservation, it is fine. it is a bit of a hairy terminal, but reservations trump all.
we brought food last year, lots of food. the vendors there were so tasty though, there was no reason to bring food. also, best bet is to try and arrive during the day. nothing sucks more than having to set your tent up by flashlight. as well, the islanders tend to take the best spots on the tuesday prior to going. if you can get there early in the week, it is better for you. |

I'm gonna book to leave at 1pm Thursday. I think this is the best we can do. Should give us plenty of daylight to set up shop. |

Tswawassen/Duke Point ferries I find are nicer views and less likely to be full than the Horseshoe Bay ferries. They take a little while longer but if you are on a vehicle it dumps you out right on the island highway. If you go to Horseshoe you need to cut through just about all of Nanaimo to get to it.

Seal and stow and you'll be fine. the road into the campsite from the highway is one of the nastiest, most ungodly things I've ever ridden and the cops won't face that. Never seen or heard of a road block after the last two years of being there. Site security however will be driving around on atv's at all hours, so pack a cup and stow yer cans.

btw, timeslots are a bit of a bitch for Soundwave. The only stage that has posted timeslots is the Liquid Soul Stage Most of the stages won't post the slots till the last minute, or you won't know until you actually get there - and more often than not it's only sort of accurate...
The Renegade Beach Stage is infamous for refusing to post any timeslots at all. |
