Urban Behaviour is hiring @ Lougheed Mall.

I know the manager there, and they're in a hiring frenzy. Full time and part time positions available. I believe starting wage is $10/hr, with possibilities of more depending on experience.

for a retail position, that is a fairly high wage all things considered. most retail stores start at minimum wage.

have you been reading the paer at all lately? looking throught the retail section of the classifieds, and no one is paying less than $10. and if they are, they arent getting any applicants

its not that it isn't a lot of money for what the job is, it's that competition between employers is only just getting bad (and its bad, everyone is hiring, and no one is applying) and $10 isn't enough to entice someone to switch jobs

yes but this will affect everyone sooner or later, it's simple supply and demand. of course, it will also lead to more inflation because of it, but you just gotta ask for your raise sooner :p

I remember when I worked at Winners and I thought that $8.75 was so much money. My rasie a year and a half later to $9.15 was just AMAZING. *rolls eyes* I quit shorty after. $10.00 an hour is VERY fair to start in retail when your young.

nope but i wouldn't be surprised if they did up the minimum wage to $10/hr... imagine that after working 40hours in a week that just puts that person over the poverty line. of course this is just applicable to burn-outs who just crappy jobs full time or are killing time before going back to school. with the price of living going up really fast it only makes sense for people to start looking for work that actualy pays more so you can keep a roof over your head. that and with school back in retail/coffee shops and mcjobs alike need to start upping that minimum wage to entice people (with realllllly flexible schedules) to come work for them. it's a good thing i only have a few years of school left... there's only so much customer service anyone can do.

don't forget that we have the second lowest unemployment rate in Canada at the moment, beaten only by Alberta. Employers are now forced to compete with each other just to get customer service jobs filled. lots of jobs are now packaged with extra perks and signing bonuses for certain sectors.
