thing is they know how to use the technology now. no one could make a good game for the jaguar and 3do and dreamcast etc because it took too long and cost too much money. they didnt understand how to tap the power. the systems were good on paper but how much of their power do you think was really used? compare that to what they can get out of todays systems then tell me things are the same as 15 years ago.

dont get me wrong, i love rock band, but i dont think its game of the year. the only thing it does is package a couple stand-alone games in 1 box. i think it takes a bit more than that to win game of the year.

im not much of a gamer anymore,but i was a rabid gamer back in the ps1-n64days.

so basically i think im saying i fit into that non-gamer adult type demo that dave was talkin about...

i think the wii is brilliant,i like it alot and love playing it when drinking at friends houses....and after this past consumer season its obviously now a bit of a phenomenon.

our tastes are completely different. i prefer the full experience when i game. graphics and sound play a huge part in the overall enjoyment of a game. the wii can not offer this experience for me due to hardware limitations. im not saying that a game can't be fun because it doesnt have gigahertz of power to back it, im just saying that i dont enjoy playing the wii.
yes, people buy a system so they can have fun, but today a lot of people are looking for the same thing as me.

side note i think the ps3 will live the longest.

wb is bloated and sucky anyway...only like 1-2 solid releases a year now. old gaurd crap,blu ray can have em. hd still all paramount,dreamworks,universal,porn,no regions, wich is HUGE, throw microsoft in there and it just gets scary.

and in 10 years there will be no formats,just streamed hd-media on hardrives and flash devices. formats are so 04

I'm going to have to agree with rawb all the way.

The wii is destroying the competition right now, it doesnt have anything fancy. It can barely do HD (480p, max)
It has fantastic, unique games ie: galaxy and that operation game.
The multiplayer is crazy good.


Granted, there will be tons of accessories for the wii, most of them will probably see 2 games at most.

ive been out of the buis for only 6 months...back then blu-ray was a joke.

blu-ray has picked up lots of steam in recent months, methinks sony is spending some money on exclusivity deals to boost ps3/blu-ray sales so they dont lose another format war. they finally have a proprietary format with promise, i dont think they want to see it fail again.
