ATTN: Rawb or laptop people
I have an HP laptop with a weird situation.
When I carry it to work, sometimes the top hits my leg and when bringing it out to my desk, it wont load up windows. fix is re-install windows. I know what the problem is, the hard drive is loose, i've screwed it in tight to its slot but the problem comes back. Is there anything I can do to re-enforce it so the hard drive doesnt get loose and fuck up? Flip over the laptop, unscrew 1 cover, the hard drive is revealed. So it's pretty easy for it to get loose. |

My laptop (and many HP laptops) has an issue of booting to a black/blank screen, no logo even, on a frequent basis. Process of troubleshooting for this issue is reseat ram, reseat HDD connection, reseat optical drive connection...if it continues after that it's a fucked cap on the mobo. But it sounds like yours isn't as fubar'd as mine is. But maybe the error is a definite windows error? |

The laptop is working fine now, for a really bad step of troubleshooting, i closed up the case and stuck a needle in to shift the hd around. (i was getting fed up with it) sure enough, the hd got loose and shut down windows. I booted it back up, same issue. reinstalled, fine.. left alone sitting on a desk for djing. |

I had the same problem with my previous HP. As Rob mentioned, we had to end up swapping the entire laptop.
It's a combination of where the drive sits, how you pick up your laptop daily, it's connection, etc. It wasn't one thing our tech could do to fix the problem. I new HP I got with the company I'm with now has worked fine... Although I'm looking to switch out to a Mac soon. :-) |
