the reason why I say "BAAAA" Is because about 2 years ago all the candy kids that loved trance hopped onto the junglist bandwagon and started to say "TRANCE FUCKING SUCKS" Then you see them bobbing along to some Rank 1 at the next party you see them at. Go sheep! Go banana! |

I have to admit that Jungle evolved from house dj's layering 4-4 beats over breaks & it's inspired by other forms of electronica like Detroit techno, hardhouse & trance. But like I said the music evolved just like most Junglist evolved from listening to those genres of dance music. D'n'B right now is the fastest evolving form of electronica out there & producers are always pushing limits w/ the quality of production, engineering of sounds & creating the deepest bass frequencies that would literally bring the house down (this is not a bias opinion)
i.e. Dillinja's Valve sound system- the only Drum & Bass sound system in the world & the biggest sound system in the world- don't ask me ask Guiness! Over 60 bass bins the size of refrigerators. Bass so thick you can stick a spoon into it and eat it. House dj's would put love aside & kill to play on a system that big but they can't it's strictly for Drum & Bass. FYI. Some D'n'B producers play strictly cd's because some they'll create tracks w/ bass so deep it's impossible to press onto vinyl. But trust me you can press a lot of bass onto plastic. Drum & Bass is one of the UK's biggest form of urban music...Bigger than Hardhouse & hip-hop. Also dominating the rave scene in Toronto w/ a jungle scene thousands strong & HUGE names visiting T.O. EVERY WEEK. It's only a matter of time before kids in Van start to evolve & find their way to the infectious sounds of Drum & Bass. Anyone here who listens to electronica- Word up. No- seriously...D'n'B wouldn't be here if it wasn't for some forms of electronica. And for the true D'n'B heads/ Junglist SUPPORT your Vancouver scene! There are ppl right now who are constantly fighting for venues & clubs to throw parties or scrounging up pennies to rent sound rigs for your eargasmic pleasure. You have guys producing music like PSIDREAM, MATTY, WOOD, and KRUSHA also other closet producers chasing their passion that is music & trying to put VanCity on the map as an embassy for drum & bass. I speak for some in the struggle- not all of them but I will say that for most of us in the scene are in a struggle, either trying to live up to the standards of the east coast massive, or trying to get it there. Now it's time for school- hope you packed a lunch. www.breakbeat.co.uk - check out 'listen' for the latest mixes & cuts from the scene (uk) www.dogsonacid.com - dnb forum/ news/ info/ music (UK) www.bassdrive.com - live dnb online (U.S.) www.nwdnb.bc.ca - VanCity's connection to dnb forum/EVENT LISTINGS also check out the dowloads section to get fresh mixes & from some of Vancouvers best Jungle dj's.
