Whip Cream Cannon Production Crew
couple ideas for a cannon.
idea#1 - a pressure washer. add a new intake hose doo dad and you may not need anything else. Yay/nay? idea#2 - PCB tubing. It'd make a fuck of a cannon. but the pressure required to launch that much wet mass is gonna be a little steep. as well as construction costs. yay/nay? actually. that's all i had for ideas. anyone else? |

because of the lightness of whip cream, you will need some sort of mass to propel it. what i would do personally i get pcb tubing and get a rubber plunger the same diameter. cap one end, but cut a hole so you can use the plunger handle to move the plunger. you may also need room for the launch device.
if the plunger is the right diameter, to load the whip cream would just be a matter of putting the cannon barrel down in it and pulling back on the plunger handle through the back of the pcb pipe. all you need now is some kind of launch mechanism. maybe a wooden collar around the handle of the plunger, and a hairspray/bbq flint sparker combo? |

If i understood what you said correctly...
we'd need a full 6ft+ peice of tubing. To physically move that much whip cream we'd have to have the mechanical propulsion of, lets say, a car engine --> creating a piston like effect to effectively "Launch" that much whip cream. I'm still up for the pressure washer idea, with a whip cream intake valve. of course we'd need some way to lower the pressure on the output, otherwise it'd be more like riot control cannon. an epiphany just hit me. I'm pretty sure i could pull off a pressurized whip cream BOMB. Get an old watertank heater thing and do some tinkering. Gotta work past the shrapnel though... hmmm. |

K.....
for starters I can't believe that bryan hasn't found this thread yet.. I vote option #2 go hard or go home! and as for your concerns cerah... if we use 4 " pvc piping say 6 feet long i estimate half of the cannon will explode (depending how much pressure we'll muster up for this) the good news is that the bits and pieces of flying cannon matter will be plastic not metal! can you dig? i really do appreciate all of your suggestions (however unpracticle some of them may be) - but simply shooting whipping cream without whipping it first sort of misses the point. As well, a pressure washer will use MANY gallons of said whipping/whipped cream (probably like $2000 in cream if not more) - not to mention it would probably hurt people. No people... im starting to think that just buyin a bunch of premade whip cream canister from safeway might be a lot easier and cheaper - although no where near as cool.
