monkey and robot is the eternal struggle that will never be resolved. on the surface there is a battle between the biological and the technological, the ability to reason vs computational accuracy. but peel back the layers and you can see deeper themes. monkey's represent our past, pre-man, and all of our instinctual wisdom, where as robots are the future: post-man. the monkey lives and finds a balance with his enviroment, whereas the robot can not understand the needs and wants of others unless it is programmed to. robots do not understand the betterment of the whole, just the betterment of self. monkeys can only hope to evolve in a million years to be something 1/1000th as capable of todays robots.

basicly it comes down to a balance. a monkey's ying to the robot's yang. the 'battle' reminds us that the past holds greater wisdom than a thousand experiments in a lab, but that the past can never be a destination. simpler times are not easier times.

progress is nothing without wisdom, wisdom is nothing without progress.

and the endless waltz of simian and machine continues.
